At 2:45AM Sunday morning, Christian Music Pioneer, Larry Norman went home to be with his Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ!
Before he died, he was able to dictate this message to his friends and fans:
I feel like a prize in a box of cracker jacks with God’s hand reaching down to pick me up. I have been under medical care for months. My wounds are getting bigger. I have trouble breathing. I am ready to fly home.
My brother Charles is right, I won’t be here much longer. I can’t do anything about it. My heart is too weak. I want to say goodbye to everyone. In the past you have generously supported me with prayer and finance and we will probably still need financial help.
My plan is to be buried in a simple pine box with some flowers inside. But still it will be costly because of funeral arrangement, transportation to the gravesite, entombment, coordination, legal papers etc. However money is not really what I need, I want to say I love you.
I’d like to push back the darkness with my bravest effort. There will be a funeral posted here on the website, in case some of you want to attend. We are not sure of the date when I will die. Goodbye, farewell, we will meet again.
Goodbye, farewell, we’ll meet again
Somewhere beyond the sky.
I pray that you will stay with God
Goodbye, my friends, goodbye.Larry
More here.
The Wiggles is the most disturbing show on television.
(and yet my 22-month-old daughter cannot seem to stop watching – and I feel obligated to make sure they aren’t trashing her mind with useless junk – so I must continue to watch too.)
I like all four Seasons – Winter, Spring, Summer, & Fall. They come and go bringing with them numerous emotions and opportunities.
Similar to nature, I think our personal lives even go through similar “Seasons” – segments of time when things are going very well, maybe not-so-well, times of encouragement, times of discouragement, times of excitement, even times of “lull”.
Scripture points to these natural seasons, too, stating: “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:” (Ecclesiastes 3:1)
After the overwhelming response to a previous post where I asked for feedback, I’m attempting this again…
What do YOU do during these “seasons of life”? Both the good and the bad. How do you cope with the bad, and how how do you rejoice when you’re living in a “good” season?
Welcome to Spooner, WI.
We arrived in Spooner this morning before 11AM after getting on the road before 6! It was a great trip. I’m here for a District Camp Committee Meeting and have finally finished for the day long-enough to find an Internet connection and time to blog!
It’s been great discussion today. Senior High Camp is called, “Altered” and Middle School Camp is called, “My Story”.
If our brainstorming and discussion makes its way into real-life this Summer, both camps will prove to be incredible!
We’re leaving Spooner sometime tomorrow and will make our way home at a leisurely pace.
“leisurely” – that’s one of those words that doesn’t follow the “i before e, except after c” rule.
Interesting.
