Life Resolution

1.6.2007 — 5 Comments

Today we spent the day in Bluffton. We left early to spend some time geocache-hunting. Found three before we arrived in Bluffton for lunch.

After lunch we enjoyed some gift giving and receiving. I received a chainsaw AND an axe this Christmas from Jess’ family – how cool is that? I wonder if lumber-jacking is somewhere in my near future?

After gift-time, I hit the road again, this time with my brother-in-law, Rich. In about an hour and a half we chalked up 4 more geocache finds for a total of seven today. Grand total: 46!

Pics from today’s Christmas in Bluffton are here.

Tomorrow will be an early-to-rise morning. I will head to the church for some quiet time and more study before I preach in both morning services. I am preaching a message entitled, “Life Resolution” after I attempted to come up with the “most amazing sermon ever to be preached on the first-Sunday-of-the-year”.

Without preaching on the blog here, the message will focus on what it is to “live love”. I’m really excited about it.

After church tomorrow we have plans to enjoy lunch with “Uncle Brandon Schenck”, World-Traveler. He happens to be in town visiting a friend and will join us for a lazy-lunch after church tomorrow.

It has been a good day for sure. I’m tired – the kind of tired where I feel like I could just stop typing right now and go right to bed.

is it okay for a self-proclaimed prophet to have a “relatively good track record”?

Deut. 18:19-22
19 If anyone does not listen to my words that the prophet speaks in my name, I myself will call him to account. 20 But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded him to say, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, must be put to death.”
21 You may say to yourselves, “How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the LORD ?” 22 If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him.

So I’m up to 39 finds! Is that incredible or what?

I found one on the way in to the office this morning, too – it was just published late last night and I managed to get there early enough to get a “first to find” – a bragging-right achievement for geocachers!

Also – while in PA, I hid my first geocache! Not only did I hide one in PA, but I found two while there – and one I found with my Dad!

I don’t think Dad will be getting into geocaching because of his first find, but he was able to enjoy his son’s new hobby!

They actually had a chance. They really had a chance.

Sad.
