Life Resolution

1.6.2007 — 5 Comments

Today we spent the day in Bluffton. We left early to spend some time geocache-hunting. Found three before we arrived in Bluffton for lunch.

After lunch we enjoyed some gift giving and receiving. I received a chainsaw AND an axe this Christmas from Jess’ family – how cool is that? I wonder if lumber-jacking is somewhere in my near future?

After gift-time, I hit the road again, this time with my brother-in-law, Rich. In about an hour and a half we chalked up 4 more geocache finds for a total of seven today. Grand total: 46!

Pics from today’s Christmas in Bluffton are here.

Tomorrow will be an early-to-rise morning. I will head to the church for some quiet time and more study before I preach in both morning services. I am preaching a message entitled, “Life Resolution” after I attempted to come up with the “most amazing sermon ever to be preached on the first-Sunday-of-the-year”.

Without preaching on the blog here, the message will focus on what it is to “live love”. I’m really excited about it.

After church tomorrow we have plans to enjoy lunch with “Uncle Brandon Schenck”, World-Traveler. He happens to be in town visiting a friend and will join us for a lazy-lunch after church tomorrow.

It has been a good day for sure. I’m tired – the kind of tired where I feel like I could just stop typing right now and go right to bed.

  1. Stev,

I’m sure I missed it in a previous post, but what exactly is a geocache?

  2. Ebbs –
Check out http://www.geocaching.com and/or do a search here on stevansheets.com for what geocaches are.

Quickly – they’re hidden “boxes” or something similar that are only known by their latitude and longitude coordinates – they’re listed on the geocaching.com website and you can input their coordinates into a handheld GPS and attempt to “hunt” the cache. When you find it, there is a paper log to write on proving that you’ve been there. You then record your name and your “find” on the geocaching.com website as you continue to accumulate “finds”. In some of the cache boxes, there are “trade items” (small toys, cards, etc.) that you are able to “trade” with. You take something, you leave something…

    Make sense?
