Katrina e-mail

9.3.2005 — 3 Comments

I received an e-mail this morning from someone “anonymous”.

It was a comment on my post yesterday about my idea of “what to do after Katrina”.

They were pretty offended.

They called me, “unbelievably offense(ive) and insensitive” and guessed “it would be easy for someone who is as priveleged as you to have a solution that says we should just demolish a city that is so rich in history…” they also said, “i can’t believe that you would call yourself a Christian and be that cold hearted while people are going through crisis.”

That one stung a bit more than the others, though I know that I can’t be ALL THINGS to ALL PEOPLE on my personal blog site! Of course my heart goes out to the thousands that are a part of this tragedy – and I’m sorry for not saying that earlier!

I think it’s a shame that my OPINION would be taken so offensively…

I don’t think anyone is going to take my opinion and “run with it”. I think they will try and rebuild New Orleans.

And for goodness sakes, I believe they NEED to and HAVE to find all survivors and non-survivors – and I’m now praying for “anonymous’ grandfather” who seems to be lost, currently.

It IS easy to have opinions – especially being THIS far away from the tragedy.

Please forgive me for not posting all of my thoughts on Katrina’s aftermath and only the, apparently, “offensive” ones.

By the way, New Orleans mayor is Mr. Ray Nagin, and apparently he’s calmed down a bit after talking one-on-one with President Bush.
