Rest & Relaxation – after the fact

We have returned from Amish Country, Indiana.

A great time was had.

We arrived in Nappanee last evening and checked in to the Homespun Country Inn and met our hostess, Dianne. Jess was instantly excited to see the “tea set” decorations throughout the entrance and living rooms.

We headed up to our room where we found a very nice room and bathroom. A quick unpacking and we were off to spend the rest of the daylight hours exploring Nappanee.

Exploring didn’t take very long. Nappanee isn’t very much of a city, but we enjoyed driving around and exploring what we could. We stopped for dinner at the Country Table – a restaurant that neither of us had thought we’d ever been to until I walked in and realized that I had been there a couple years ago with some folks from the church on the way to a Northwood High School football game!

Dinner was amazing! It was a $8.75 buffet with EVERYTHING! They even had STEAK on the buffet. I ate until I nearly burst.

After dinner, we headed to the local library that we were told by our hostess was VERY interesting. I was looking forward to sitting and relaxing and reading – and that’s what I did. Jess was excited to see a library – because of her love for libraries and those crazy librarians of America. I enjoyed a magazine and some reading and so did Jess and then we finished exploring the library – a children’s area downstairs was incredible. The library itself has actually been enclosed with a NEW library – so the old building has just been built around – to save it historically. Pretty incredible.

After the library, the local coffee shop was our next stop. I had a Jones’ soda and Jess had some mocha-latte-thingy that she loved. We played a goofy game of dominoes (neither of us know how to play, so we have no idea what we were doing.) I won though.

Then we played checkers and I won two rounds of that, too!

I also set up all the dominoes a couple of times and made some pretty cool designs – as you can see by the pictures! They fell with much sound and excitement from me!

We finally headed back to the Bed & Breakfast for some sleep-time around 9:30.

This morning we enjoyed breakfast with a nice couple from Michigan – she is a Youth Sponsor in their youth group at their Bible church and he is the head sound-guy! We enjoyed praying with the couple before eating our breakfast and getting to know them and our hostess!

After breakfast we finished packing our things and headed out to see all that day-time Nappanee had to offer!

We found many great places along our trip today – some great pictures both on my digital and with my 35mm (have to get those developed). We visited an amazing furniture store, some bakeries, an Amish store, Amish Acres, we found an Amish school that was in-session and we watched a field being burned, we even tried on Amish hats and I climbed up in an un-manned Amish buggy! (don’t know if I was allowed to do that or not!)

It was a great time of relaxing.

The drive home was fun, too with a new Vineyard Praise and Worship CD that we picked up at the Christian bookstore in Nappanee.

I’m now fighting a “wow, that was relaxing” headache and we’re going to try and watch Ladder 49 before bed tonight.

Tomorrow is softball practice and if it’s nearly as beautiful as today was, I am REALLY looking forward to that.

I am SO in love with the woman of my dreams – it was SUCH a pleasure to hold onto her as we window-shopped and walked through some amazing places today.

She truly is the greatest!

Oh, you want pictures? Here.
