Yep, tonight was ridiculous. Our “supposed to start at” 9:00PM game didn’t start until 9:45PM!

Thankfully we only had to play 5-innings until we were brutally handed our loss 12-2.

Ouch.

I had a nice hit to left field and then two left-field pop-outs.. Sad.

Good day in the office today. Finished working on a BOX promotional brochure for our ministry fair that’s coming up in a couple of weeks. I’ve just got to print a bunch of them now and work on a “display” board full of pictures and such for the fair.

Also ordered a 30’x40′ tent for that same ministry fair today. I was “supposed” to order the 30’x30′, but it was already loaned out. A quick “please” and “thank-you” got us the 30’x40′ for the same price! Thanks to my Dad for always pointing out such “loopholes in the way things work”!

It’s 11:45PM and I have to be at Richards Restaurant in the morning at 7 for our Ministerial Meeting. Finishing our game just before 11 means that my body is still in “softball” mode and will not “settle” for a couple more hours. And to complain even more – the freezer door was SLAMMED onto my left index finger today while Matt VanKirk and I held the fridge parallel to the floor and teen Calah held the doors up and open as long as she could. It hurts pretty bad and hopefully will get bruised enough to warrent a photo-gallery!

Today I decided to work on theBOX’s new refrigerator. It was donated by one of our teens’ mom for our use after our last “classic” one died.

Today was WAY TOO HOT to be working outside on cleaning/painting a fridge, but today was the day for the job.

Here’s the before shot:

Here’s the after shot:
Special thanks to my buddy Matt VanKirk for coming and cheering me on and even spray-painting the inside shelves and the bottom grid! What a guy!

Accountability group tonight @ Hacienda! Looking forward to meeting with those guys again – after missing last week.

The IslandUhm, WOW!

Jess and I just got home from being “spontaneous” this evening. We were comfortable on the couch at 8:00 this evening after an afternoon of napping and being lazy when Jess suggested “renting” a movie. I said, let’s see if “The Island” is playing tonight – thinking to myself, “surely not this late in Warsaw on a Sunday.”

“It’s playing in 30-minutes!” came from the computer-room..

We hurriedly brushed hair, got un-lazy, and headed for the car.

Let me just say that we are VERY glad we got out and saw this movie. Even the non-matinee price of seeing a late movie was worth it to us for the entertainment of this 2-hour, 16-minute flick!

The story-line is definitely worth getting into, and seems to be popping up more and more in this day when “cloning” seems to be more and more a possibility.

The action was incredible – I’m pretty sure more Dodge Magnums were destroyed in this film than have even been destroyed in “real life” since they were invented!

A couple bad words and a steamy love scene (without nudity), along with LOTS of destruction, gun-shooting, and exploding stuff get this movie its PG-13 rating.

Scarlett Johansson and Ewan McGregor are great actors in this film. I would guess that we’ll see the two of them together again in future acting endeavors.

PluggedIn’s (Focus on the Family) review of this movie points out the “silliness” of the action-sequences – how “over-the-top” they are. Obviously “nothing” in this film could happen – I think that’s part of the reason it was so stinking entertaining!

If you’ve seen this film – use the comments to post your own thoughts!

This morning, the Lord blessed us in both morning services at Warsaw Wesleyan.

An announcement was given this morning regarding the Lumston family withdrawing their names as candidates for the Senior Pastor position at our church. It was obvious that the news was not new to many in attendance.

So, we’re back to the “drawing board” for a senior pastor at WWC. We’ll continue to pray and seek the Lord’s will for our church!

I spoke today on the Body of Christ – from 1 Corinthians 12:12-27. God blessed our time together.

While I was studying a bit this morning, one of the Sunday school classes that meets just next to our offices came and got me and asked to pray over me before I spoke this morning. It was a humbling time to have an entire class surround me in prayer and support.

Jess and I took a 4-hour nap this afternoon when we finally got home from church. We tried to “relax” watching television, but before we knew it we were “out” and sleeping for those 4 hours. Even at 26, naps are still absolutely amazing!

This morning, Jess and I headed to Fairmount for our annual Youth Conference. We took Phil Stuller with us – to keep him out of trouble.

On the way, we stopped and saw Aunt Judy and Kenny, Nathan and Cressalyn – they were at IWU for the area-TNT competition. TNT (for the non-Wesleyan’s) is Teens-N-Talent. Apparently they all did very well, as I found out from my mother who called later this evening.

We also had a chance to stop and see “Aunt” Pam & Richard at their home in Marion. We had a great visit with them and it was good to see the changes they have been making to their home together!

Conference was typical – a bunch of crazy youth pastor’s trying to be “professional”. Jeff Leudtke is our District Youth President again this year – THANK THE LORD! And Rob Tippey is the District Youth Treasurer – so nothing big changed for us! It was a great time to see a bunch of my youth pastor friends again and to spend some time with them all. This year, we, as the youth cabinet, agreed to give each youth pastor on the district a complete set of the Rob Bell NOOMA DVDs – a $129.99 retail value (I got us a deal on the videos thanks to the helpful NOOMA customer service ladies). The youth pastors were VERY excited to receive such a gift – a 10 DVD set that they can use in their ministries. It was fun to watch their eyes get big as we made the announcement!

After conference, we headed back towards Warsaw for supper with Phil and we spotted a crop-dusting airplane. I had to stop and take some photos of course.

More photos of the crop duster are available here.

More photos from conference are here.

We finally came home and ate supper at the King’s Buffet chinese buffet. We had planned on stopping at the nearby Wal-Mart to pick up some much needed “Works” toilet bowl cleaner for tonight’s explosive entertainment. At $.94/bottle, we picked up 5!

I’ve uploaded a couple new “explosive” videos for your enjoyment. Tonight a neighbor came out to find out just how we were blowing up these water bottles. She can’t wait to try it with her grandchildren!

After we came back inside tonight, I had a “why haven’t you called in FOREVER” e-mail from my sister Sherilyn in Bosnia. After my shower, I decided to check and see what time it was in Bosnia/Herzegovina and when I found out it was only 4:05AM there, I gave her a call!

After a few minutes of her waking up and stumbling over words and things in her apartment, we had a great hour-or-so conversation with her!

She’s doing very well in Bosnia these days with new stories to tell us everytime we talk with her. I can’t wait to have her back here in person to learn about more of her amazing adventures.

Please continue to pray for my kid-sister as she serves over in Bosnia for these next few months before coming home!

And of course visit her website and her flickr photo galleries!

Big day tomorrow. I’ll preach in both morning services and then crash all afternoon and evening, hopefully. I am hoping to get a GREAT night of rest tonight to try and be in good health tomorrow morning. I’m still fighting off this nasty summer cold and my voice is not 100%, but I know the Lord will give me strength!
