Home from Michigan

We’re home from Michigan!

We had a great day-away there with Steve & Rita Zerbe. We got in last evening around 8:30 and enjoyed visiting their church and exploring their new place of employment. Lake Center Bible Church in Portage, Michigan is a great facility!

We spent the evening in the new Zerbe home that they just moved into a few weeks ago. It’s beautiful, brand-new, and has PLENTY of space for their grandchildren to enjoy coming to their grandparents’!

This morning we got up and headed up to Kalamazoo to visit their Daughter and Son-in-law and their family. Ben & Allison Davis now have TWO boys – Brennan and Micah. We enjoyed breakfast with the family VERY much.

After breakfast it was on the road for another hour or so to get to Holland. At 1:30 this afternoon, Phil and Steph Stuller were wed at the Holland Central Wesleyan Church. Jess had been to Holland Central before while touring with the IWU Chorale. I had never been there before, so of course we decided to explore there, too!

We headed back home this evening and arrived here safely in Warsaw by 8:30.

We’re both exhausted from the trip and the numerous events that transpired over the last day and a half!

Check out the Michigan Trip pictures here.

Video of “the kiss” is here.

Television needs more commercials like this. (thanks, Ellen)

WE’RE MOVING!

12.15.2005 — 10 Comments

By January 1st, Stevan & Jessica Sheets will no longer be residents of Winona Lake, IN.

We are pleased to announce that we are renting a REAL HOUSE from a couple in our church in Warsaw!

It’s a GREAT 2-bedroom home with a full-size kitchen, laundry room, dining room, living room, even an attached garage and a basement!

We’re SO BLESSED!

Speaking of BLESSED – if you want to join in on this BLESSING, why not come help us move NEXT THURSDAY! (12/22) We’ll be starting early that morning (7AM) putting our STUFF into a covered trailer (thanks to Dan Warren) and then by 10:30 we’ll be taking that FULL trialer to the new place and MOVING IN!

Wanna help? :)

This is quite possibly the WORST time in our lives to attempt to move with our LOGOS5 youth convention coming up in two weeks, not to mention a certain MAJOR holiday next Sunday!

Also – we’re gone tomorrow night to Michigan to enjoy the company of Steve & Rita Zerbe and then travel with them to Holland, Michigan for the wedding of Phil & Steph Stuller!

What are we thinking?!

Pray for us – even if you can’t help us move next week you can surely PRAY!

More pictures of the house here.

Well, well, well! Over the last few days there’s been QUITE the ongoing commentary in the comment-section about whether we should influence our children to believe in this Mr. Claus guy or not. Hopefully you’ve been keeping up – it’s been VERY exciting!

Stevan’s final thoughts:

Jess and I have briefly discussed the “what will WE do” scenario and we’re both pretty well settled that our child(ren) will grow up with the wonderment and awe of believing in the fat-man from the North Pole who somehow gets into our house and brings toys.

That said, I also emphasize that we will MOST DEFINITELY emphasize the TRUE meaning of Christmas being the day we celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus. Maybe as a pastor’s family we’ll have MORE of an opportunity to emphasize that fact with the natural festivities that surround this Season, but it will truly be THE emphasis.

I’m excited to teach my impressionable child(ren) about Santa, the elves, those crazy reindeer, and other Christmastime folklore – like the giant albino yetti that lives in the hall closet!

Merry Christmas to you Santa-teachers and non-Santa-teachers alike!

Congrats to the Linz brothers and sister for finishing first and winning a million bucks tonight on CBS’ “Amazing Race”.

Jess and I cheered on the Weaver family till the end and I’ll admit that the Linz family – being the strongest and best “teamwork” family deserve the $1,000,000!

I can’t imagine having the adventures all of the families had during this season’s Amazing Race.
