LOGOS5 – Day 1

12.29.2005 — 4 Comments

We’re here in Grand Rapids, safe and sound, and the first day of LOGOS5 is under our belts.

Full photo set here.

We’ve enjoyed ourselves VERY much thus far. It’s been great visiting with old friends, enjoying our teens and sponsors, and tonight’s message by Shaun Blakeney was right on about what the Bible is:

The Bible is “classic”
The Bible has no errors
The Bible is a gift
The Bible is God’s love-letter
The Bible shows us how to live a successful life!

He went on to impress the fact that if we apply the Bible to our lives –
– it will revive our soul (encouragement)
– it will strengthen our minds (wisdom)
– it will change our attitude (joy)
– it will brighten our lives (perspective)

I’m looking forward to the messages tomorrow.

Tonight’s “big band” was KIDS IN THE WAY. They’re a pretty hard-sounding band which I would’ve enjoyed a lot more about 15 years ago!

Tomorrow I will also be sure to enjoy a seminar on “media in ministry” – sounds familiar – like the seminar I got to lead 2-years ago at Charlotte!

In a few short hours, Jess and I, along with 30-teens and 4-adults will embark on the 3+ hour trip to Grand Rapids, Michigan where our area Wesleyan Youth Convention will be taking place. Nearly 2,000 teens will gather at the Amway Grand Plaza for the next 4-days for an amazing time of spiritual renewal and challenge!

I will do my best to borrow some wireless internet while we are away to update the faithful as to what takes place between tomorrow morning and Saturday afternoon!

Stay tuned. . .

As I type this, Jess and I are about ready to turn in after another full day of “new-house-living”!

We didn’t get a LOT done today as we decided to sleep in and then embark on an attempt at “shopping” at Wal-Mart for some bathroom decorations. (new shower curtain, rugs, shower caddie, etc.) Wal-Mart is obviously the ONLY place people go when they are off of work and looking for something to do! :)

After we came home we had visitors! Jeremy Freeman, CJ Carr and his girlfriend, Tara all came over for a lengthy visit and tour of our new place. It was a great time visiting with each of them. Tara is expecting her baby 3-days after ours!

Tonight’s Christmas Eve service was GREAT! It was a packed house tonight for the hour-long communion service.

Tomorrow’s service is at 10:30 (not 10 like I mentioned yesterday!)

Jess and I enjoyed McDonald’s double cheeseburgers, fries, and eggnog shakes tonight for our celebratory Christmas Eve dinner! Even though our home is not “in place” and decorated for Christmas, we are VERY excited again this year to be celebrating it together!

Merry Christmas to all stevansheets.com visitors!

Moving Update #3

12.23.2005 — 4 Comments

Sheesh. It’s been two days since I last posted and my body feels at least 2-years older.

The back aches, the feet ache, and my eyes are as tired as ever.

We have EVERYTHING we own inside of our house now! We finally finished getting the rest of the kitchen-stuff over this evening with the help of Mom Garrett. She was SUCH a great help today – ALL DAY!

Our house is quickly becoming more-and-more comfortable. Jess actually has her teapots on display in the kitchen, too!

We bought a new washer last night after the one we were given for free sprung a leak and surprised us with a nice puddle in the laundry room. We were pretty nervous to have to go out and buy a new appliance – but we’re glad we were able to – once again we thank God for the finances at the right time to take care of our washer-need!

Tomorrow we will enjoy sleeping in! We’ll enjoy our Christmas Eve service tomorrow at 8PM and then enjoy one service on Sunday at 10AM. After church we’ll head to Bluffton for the afternoon and then head back here Sunday night.

We’ll work Monday and Tuesday at getting the house more home-y and then early Wednesday morning we’ll head to Grand Rapids, Michigan for LOGOS5!

What a crazy couple of weeks!
