Busy

Got back from a day down in Fairmount just a couple hours ago. It’s been a crazy couple of days and these crazy days don’t seem to be stopping anytime soon, either.

Full day in the office tomorrow, hopefully some packing in the afternoon.

Wednesday we will leave for Wisconsin for two days of District Conference up there and then back here for a full weekend. One more full week of Warsaw-living (including a trip-or-two to Fairmount for more campers being dropped off).

These are crazy days for sure.

Kim Mayorga was confused when her 2-year-old started making funny faces and pushing away the apple juice he had ordered at Applebee’s.

KID NATION

This will be good reality television. Kid Nation – Wednesday nights @ 8PM starting this Fall!

On Tuesday night, Shawn French, Jason Knepp and myself went camping “Survivorman-style”.

We bought and caught a live chicken, took it into the woods with us. Took nothing except the clothes on our backs, our knives, an axe, a camp shovel, our chicken, and a video camera.

12-hours later we emerged from the woods unscathed and better men because of it. I edited our video footage this afternoon and am pretty proud of the results.

By the way – the chicken, “One-Eyed Jack”, didn’t make it.

Cedar Point Recap

Amazing time at Cedar Point yesterday.

We left the church parking lot just before 7AM and were at Cedar Point by 11:30AM after a McDonalds breakfast stop.

Here’s the runthrough of our day:

Ride 001 – Demon Drop
Yah, it’s pretty weak, but the line was REALLY short and we wanted to get right on something to get rolling.

Ride 002 – Raptor
We waited in line for about 30-minutes until they came across the loudspeaker and said that the ride was broken. We waited anyways. Then they came on the loudspeaker and told us that they didn’t recommend waiting because of the nature of the problem. We got out of line and grabbed some lunch. They opened the ride moments later, we jumped back in line and rode the Raptor. One of my favorite Cedar Point coasters, hands down.

Ride 003 – Top Thrill Dragster
I had yet to ride “The Dragster” and secretly was willing to NOT ride this one again on this visit if the “line was too long”. Before I knew it we were in line and on the ride within 30-minutes. This is the world’s greatest rollercoaster. I would ride this again in a heartbeat. 120-mph is amazing.

Ride 004 – The Corkscrew
Great coaster. ‘Nuff said.

Ride 005 – Maverick
Wow. We waited for nearly 2-hours for this brand-new Cedar Point Coaster and BOY were we glad to wait! This coaster is NOT exciting to look at – most of it is hidden around corners that you can’t see. The ride itself is amazing, though! From the magnetic, initial launch to the magnetic “power boost” halfway through a tunnel, the ride was incredible – especially not knowing a thing about it. I’m so glad we chose to wait this one out. They had a few mechanical issues that caused the long-wait, but it was DEFINITELY my favorite ride of the day!

Ride 006 – Millennium Force
Couldn’t ride this last year. Barely road it this year. I’m so glad I lost that weight a few months ago while being sick. The “gimmick” of this coaster is its sheer climb-and-drop. It’s just an amazing thing to experience. I will forever be enthralled with the Millennium Force coaster. This being only my second-time riding it, I will need to return and ride it again and again in years to come.

After 6 rides, I took our sponsors to supper at Johnny Rockets and then we had about 30-minutes before it was time for our teens to meet us to leave the park, so we quickly road the Sky Way, some bumper cars, and then headed to the rendezvous point.

It really was a great day – definitely my favorite of three-visits to the park. If you go this Summer, PLEASE ride the Maverick – you will NOT be disappointed!

Some pictures of Flickr that give a taste of what we experienced are here.

A few here, too:
