A quick update

7.5.2007 — 8 Comments

We’re settling in just fine, thank you!

The master bedroom is nearly “finished”, though nothing has yet been put on ANY wall. Ella is IN LOVE with her room – wait until you see pictures of it! (you’d have pictures if I would’ve remembered to bring the camera over here to the office, and yes 1-minute away is too far to run over and get the camera!)

The basement is taking shape. We have our washer hooked up and working well. The garage is a mess, but that’s normal, right?

The kitchen is Jess’ oasis. She’s doing so well at making it “hers”! We forgot last night that we don’t have a microwave, so we’re going to get one today.

I just got off the phone with our new cable/internet provider – Time Warner. They’re hooking us up at home on Wednesday morning! So, regular-updates will happen shortly thereafter!

Last night we enjoyed fireworks in the nearby city of Burlington (no coat factory that I could find). I’ve never been so close to large-display fireworks as we were to them last night. Ella loved them and HATED us covering her ears during the booms!

A lot more work to finish today, tomorrow, and Saturday at the house. Our first SNL (Sunday Night Live) is on Sunday night and we’re excited about getting to know our students and investing in their lives. We definitely feel God’s guiding hand on our lives in these moments. Confirmation after confirmation that we are to be here – now is evidenced through conversations and God-placed words since we’ve been here!

Thank you for your prayers! Keep on praying for our family!

We’ve arrived and are “settling in”.

We left Warsaw this morning around 9:30AM. We pulled into Mukwonago just after 3PM and turned our clocks back an hour (we’re on Central time now!)

Sherilyn met us just off Interstate 94 and followed behind us the final 25-miles to Mukwonago. She’s been a big help, too, watching Ella while we’ve attempted to put some things away and keep our sanity. Sher will be here through Wednesday – and we are SO grateful to have her help during this transition!

We’re currently “relaxing” at Pastor Gerry & Wenda’s home. I don’t have my camera with me to update via pictures, but will take time to do that sometime soon. We’ll open our bank account tomorrow hopefully and work on finding a deal on internet for the house, too!

Thank you all for praying for us through this transition – please continue to pray especially for my beautiful wife! She is such a strong woman and has helped me during some of my roughest moments to-date during this transition! I have a new ministry-position to keep me busy for these next few weeks and months and Jess has the HUGE task of making our house into our home. She is already doing a fantastic job – and I know she’s as excited as I am about this new stage of life for us!

Somehow during packing up everything we own into boxes and then a truck I managed to hurt my back again. I rode in the truck with a hot-pack on my back for the entire trip and consistently pumped myself full of Ibuprofen to keep me from crying, but I’m hurting pretty bad right now and would also appreciate any prayers on my behalf, too!

Come and visit us in Wisconsin!

Here’s our new address:

Stevan & Jessica Sheets (and Ella!)
S93 W30580 County Road NN
Mukwonago, WI 53149

(interesting, isn’t it?)

Truck is full

Amazingly we’re actually relaxing right now. Yup. The truck is packed, the house is empty and clean, our deposit has been returned, and we’re relaxing in the Sweeny home. Ella’s napping, supper is nearly finished, and I’m about to pass out.

The 26-foot truck is slam-full. It’s a blast to drive, but very intimidating, too.

Big day tomorrow. My message is entitled, “Hear God.”

I am absolutely exhausted. This was a big day. We had incredible help!

D-Day

Momma Sweeny left after 10 last night after spending quite a few hours helping us “finish up”.

We still haven’t quite finished up, but before the wireless router goes in a box, I wanted to update the world.

Today will be quite historic. In just 50-minutes I will be heading to Penske to pick up a 26-footer and a tow-behind car-dollie. At 9AM, a motley crew will be arriving at our place to help us load all of our belongings into said truck. They will be disappointed when they realize that not everything is ready to be put on a truck…

Mom Garrett and Jess’ sister, Jaymie arrive in around 9, too, to spend a day helping keep this place sane. We will get the packing done. We will get the house-cleaning done. We will get settled in our 2-night home-away-from-home thanks to the Gastons. I will preach in both services tomorrow. We will laugh and cry at tomorrow night’s “toast ‘n roast” service. We will wake up refreshed Monday morning and head to Mukwonago with our stuff and unpack it with our new church family.

Moving is quite the experience.

I’m tired of it, already.
