Tonight I did what any good husband should do – I took my wife on a date that wasn’t me-centered. We ate at Applebee’s, went to the Majestic Theater and then to Starbucks.
We didn’t JUST go to the Majestic, we went and saw a real-life chick-flick, “Becoming Jane”.
I knew I was in “trouble” the minute I realized that I would be the only male in the theater who didn’t actually grow up in the same era as Miss Austen. Seriously.
I made it through the movie – which was a typical movie that my wife loves: weird English accents, ballroom gowns, dancing, crying, girls having their hearts trampled on by “rebels”, etc.
After watching the movie I have NO desire to read a biography on Miss Austen, but I can’t help but wonder how much of the movie’s plot was true-to-life.
During my movie-watching I had an epiphany of sorts that made me realize that sacrificing two precious hours of sanity to sit through a chick-flick like “Becoming Jane” is well worth it if it makes my wife happy.
It’s 5:48AM.
I’m so excited, and I just cannot hide it.
In 12-minutes (or less) Eric will be picking me up for a geocaching adventure that has been a long time coming.
Involved will be: 2 crazy geocachers, a Dodge Durango, an aluminum canoe, 2 paddles, a lake, and an island.
Video documentation forthcoming.
