Archives For General

After an afternoon Maundy Thursday Communion service at church, I headed to lunch with some of the staff and then came back home to attempt to start my hand-me-down (thanks, Steve Zerbe!) lawn mower!

After a few tugs, a new tank of gas, and some praying, the lawnmower started up and stayed in “idle” mode. I couldn’t increase the 3.5hp engine’s RPMs at all, so I did what any red-blooded American would do… I got my tools out.

After a quick look, I found out that the throttle spring was a bit “sprung” and needed to be replaced. A quick trip to Ace Hardware provided a similar spring and after quickly replacing, I found out that it, too, was a bit too “sprung”. Another quick trip to Ace and I returned with a stronger spring and quickly replaced the not-so-strong one.

With that I was in business and my lawn mower was purring like a small grizzly bear with bad lungs.

It was an enjoyable afternoon mowing the yard, albeit difficult to see where I had already been because of the various lengths of grass throughout the yard. I also had to “invent” a boundary between our yard and the neighbors. I think I chose wisely.

As I was finishing the yard, Jess came home with a carload of baby shower gifts. Her school had a shower for her this morning. More blessings now fill our home thanks to some of the kindest people in Warsaw!

In the mail this evening I received my $50 in-store credit from Apple for their lawsuit settlement for bad iPod batteries. Sadly, I can’t find anything in the Apple.com store to purchase (except of course iTunes credit which is exempt…) So, if anyone is going to be making a purchase anytime soon from the Apple store and wants to swap $50 store-credit for $50 cash or PayPal, please contact me!

Supper is ready and my lawn-mowing self is hungry.

Scott was featured on the Harvest Show last night and I DVR’d it!

This guy makes me jealous.

Video of the launcher launching 2-gross (288) bottle rockets here (10mb mpeg).

Dude’s website here.

I’m pretty sure that if I still lived at home, my Dad and I would’ve built this by now.

Today I finally felt well enough to help Jess finish the Baby’s room. I removed the futon, hung the “finishing touches” and gave it a thorough vacuuming.

Baby Sheets now has his/her own private dwelling in the Sheets Home to begin life!

April 27th is getting closer and closer!

Complete photoset of the completed room, including closeups of the original artwork by Mom Garrett here.

Thank you Mom Garrett for the tremendous help on the room yesterday!
