I’m sitting in the surgery waiting area at Riley Hospital down here in Indianapolis. One of my students is having a 3-hour surgery today and I am enjoying the company of his parents, some great conversation, prayer, and free wireless internet!

It’s 10:06AM, I’m sitting at the dining room table trying to keep quiet while the ladies-of-the-house are all fast asleep. Ella woke up just as I left this morning at 7:45 for an appointment at the car dealership for an oil change and a check-up as to why the air conditioning isn’t working.

Diagnosis: a leak in the evaporator. We’ll have to have that replaced in the next week or so. There goes a huge chunk of our already-depleted tax return!

I’m thinking about reverting to the good ‘ol days of horse and buggy. Car problems seem to plague this Sheets family quite often. I am thankful, however, for a very reliable vehicle and people who are knowledgeable on how to fix problems like this for us!

When I got back from the car appointment, the house was quiet. Sherilyn is still passed out on the couch and Ella and Mommy are tucked away in the bedroom.

Sher leaves sometime this afternoon to head back in time for an evening class at Wheaton. We stayed up way too late last night listening to her share about the latest life-stuff she’s got going on. She’s quite the communicator, let me tell you. I’m thankful for a wife who does a much better job at continuing a conversation during late-night conversing than I could ever do.

I think we’ll be going for a walk this afternoon – and maybe a bike ride? I dusted off my Schwinn 21-speed yesterday and went for the first ride of the Season with one of my teens through the neighborhood and cemetery – we actually chased two deer through the cemetery and were amazed at their leaping-abilities over some pretty large tombstones!

Sherilyn arrived from Naperville, IL this afternoon before evening service. She’s here through tomorrow afternoon and Ella is loving every minute of it!

We enjoyed an evening at Applebee’s and I actually ventured into restaurant food for the first time in almost three weeks. I had half of a quesadilla. So far, no reaction!

That’s what the nurse said to me today – “no results until Monday.”

Argh!

HIDA-scan, done.

Made it through the hour and a half HIDA-scan first thing this morning. Had really no idea what to expect after hearing numerous stories from numerous people, but it was nothing, really. Quick IV into my left arm and then an hour and a half on a cold, steel table while this monstrosity of a camera came uncomfortably close to my mid-section, all the while jamming out to some WRSW, 107.3 tunes.

I DID feel some “pain” (I’m so nervous to call anything less than nearly chopping off my left middle finger “pain”) in my gall bladder-ish area (I really don’t know exactly where the bladder-of-gall is). I mentioned this to the tech who said that it can sometimes happen. Maybe the “pain” was my gall bladder attempting to work overtime on the stuff they injected into my veins?

Should hear something by this evening.
