My buddy Brad Zimmerman (the mastermind behind the video-visuals at SETAPART ’07 – the Wesleyan Youth Convention we just had in Orlando) has just finished putting up the first episode of his new vidcast called, “Church Media Design”. The first episode is entitled, “Countdown to Launch”, and includes tutorials on building a countdown timer in both Adobe AfterEffects as well as the new stand-alone program, The Countdown Creator.

The production value is all that I hoped it would be and it’s nice to have a friend like Brad who is willing to share things that he knows that I wish I knew!

Brad is looking at the podcast as a ministry – giving back to those of us in ministry who need all the help we can get.

If you’re interested, you can stream the first episode TODAY on the website – www.churchmediadesign.tv and eventually subscribe to its RSS feed to download into iTunes!

Jess and I are settled into our room here at the Three Bears Lodge in Warrens, WI for two nights/three days of Pastors & Mates Retreating!

This place is incredible! We haven’t yet enjoyed the indoor waterpark, but will get to that tomorrow. We’re enjoying getting to know other district pastors and spouses as well as spending some time just as husband and wife! Thanks to Mom & Dad Garrett who are currently house-and-baby sitting back in Mukwonago! What a gift they’ve given us to be just us for these couple of days!

We already miss Ella. Jess said something tonight that was an “Ella-ism” and we both gave each other “Ella-eyes” at the reminder that we didn’t have her joyfulness with us here! This is our first time away from her overnight together and Jess’ first night away from her – ever – in her 21-months of life!

David Holdren is sharing in the ‘general sessions’ tomorrow. Looking forward to the challenges he brings to us.

Finally!

Heritage.

I’m proud of my heritage.

This morning I popped in the CDROM from the General Secretary’s office at Wesleyan Headquarters. Of course I browsed through the “ministers directory” to check and make sure my information was correct. I was reminded of my heritage when I read through the three Sheets included in the directory. In order: my Grandfather – Jim; my Father – Paul; and me! What a Godly heritage I am so proud to be following!

Love you Grandpa and Dad!

Defeat. x2

Another unbelievable game. Another unbelievable loss.

When you move to a new state you somewhat instantaneously take-on that state’s team as your own when it gets down to the nitty gritty. Tonight I cheered (in vain) for Favre and his Packers to beat the stuffin’s out of Eli and his Giants – a team I grew up disliking while living in Rochester, NY.

The final field goal kick to win the game for the Giants was literally a slow-motion moment for me and the student population watching the game in my basement. I nearly cried real-tears. I didn’t – I’m a man – remember that.

In two weeks I will be faced with a decision to once again cheer for a team that I don’t hold very near or dear to my heart. Although they won tonight against the team for whom I was cheering their mission is simple. Stop the cheating Patriots from a 19-0 perfect season, post-season, and Super Bowl championship.

I’m voting to allow hand-to-hand combat weapons in the Super Bowl this year, too.
