I would like to say this with serious sincerity and love – from what I feel after reading a certain posting sent to Stevan – I don’t feel it comes in a kindly manner and therefore I reject it with respectful but absolute disregard! Stevan and Jessica, I encourage you to as well!

God, help any ill will from anyone to be squelched and dealt with from Your Holy spirit speaking and dealing with the heart! May there be peace, perfect peace, heard, listened to, accepted and received! Amen!

Just noticed the car seat cover in the post below and wanted to fill you in on some info a friend of mine gave me (yes, a second time parent) last week. Most car seats (ours is a Graco) are only safe for babies under 20 pounds OR less than 26 inches long. (It actually had this listed on the side sticker, but I just had in my mind 20 pounds.)

Since Ella was 26 inches 2 months ago, I figured she is probably too long. Madelyn is 26 1/2 inches…so she is too long too. It’s a huge bummer because now we can’t carry her everywhere and let her sleep through trips to church and Wal-Mart. but it’s what is safe, so…

Just wanted to let you know in case you didn’t already. :) Oh, and the pic of Ella and the tree is so adorable!

  7. Love it man. She’s awesome!

  8. Thanks, Jaena! Our seat is safe up to 29 inches long and/or 22 pounds according to the manufacturer! I never would have found that out so soon had you not pointed it out to us! :-) Yikes! Ella keeps getting longer and longer! Plus, another mom just shared that a car seat “expert” explained that babies need to switch seats when the top of their heads are one inch below the top of the carseat or if they’ve met the weight requirement–she had a long and lean kiddo at the time. Perhaps this info will help all of you parents out there who just realized your child may need a new seat soon. Now, the next seat…..looks like some research is going to happen soon.

  9. Save yourself tons of research and get a Britax Marathon. They are rated #1 on safety and usability. They are great for babies that have the genetics to be big kids…I know your Uncle David :-) Ella does not have a chance at being petite. My four year-old who has always been off the chart for her height still is very comfortable in hers. The seat might seem pricey, but is worth the investment. Do a Froogle search and you should be able to find a good price online. Also Babies R Us allows you to take the display model and strap it into your car to make sure it fits well. Good luck!

Good for you, Jess! I am jealous of your manufacturer (but maybe not enough to go buy a new carrier). ;) I’ll have to check out the Britax Marathon since Maddie is now in Elisha’s old carseat we got from some friends. It doesn’t work in our car too well – keeps shifting on us. So, maybe a new car seat can go on Madelyn’s Christmas list.

  11. I smiled when I checked out these comments…. I just recommended the Britax Marathon to Jess on the phone this afternoon! We have it for our four-year old (who has always been in the 90%+!) and we LOVE it, too! Definitely worth EVERY penny…. for ease of use and safety, too!

There are some great places that have them online that even offer free shipping!

  12. Well, I’m thinking the Britax Marathon needs to be the next major purchase in the Sheets’ household. Merry Christmas/Happy Birthday, Ella. :-)
