Les Stroud (survivorman) is my hero!

If you haven’t caught an episode of Survivorman (Discovery Channel) you are missing out of one of television’s most incredible shows.

Les Stroud, the “Survivorman” goes on these 7-day expeditions where he survives off the land.

Tonight’s episode was quite exciting – he was dropped with only his bicycle in the remote Utah desserts. He quickly stabbed one of the tires on the bike to get started and quickly dismantled the bike to use it for survival.

What’s most interesting about this show is that he is the only star. He carries over 50lbs of camera gear with him into these situations, sets up his own camera shots and even hikes away from the camera and back towards it – just to get some good footage for the show.

I also just learned on his website that he moved his family to an “off the grid” dwelling that uses only solar power and even rain-harvesting systems. How cool is that?

I wish I had TIVO so that I could be sure to catch every episode of Survivorman.

On another note, I’m so glad to be an adult!

I realized tonight that I can eat a half-package of Milano cookies and can’t get in trouble for it. (Milano cookies were “Mom’s cookies” and thus off-limits to the Sheets kids as we grew up!)

  1. Milano Cookies!! What memories they bring! So happy you can eat half a bag (aren’t they so small?) without trouble … but just remember: your day is coming! Ella’s gonna want “something before her time” and you’ll get to establish rules she’ll not like! (Shall we talk about the Calkins Road border, too?) It’s certainly a joy watching you be a Father! We are proud of you! – Dad

If you can help me figure out how to record to video from my DVR,
I’d be happy to program my unit to record this show for you.

Yummy! Those are the most delicious cookies!

  4. How about half a box of Frosted Flakes to wash down those cookies????? :)
It is nice to be an adult – i just took cough medicine to go to sleep! Our parents laid such helpful foundations for us!

  5. Greetings and blessing to you this sunday. It is fantastic that Les practices what he preaches and is going to live off grid. But where did you hear this? I thought I knew everything about Survivorman and even I did not know he had gone off the grid.

Still Noah built his ark so should we not all do so, before the next flood cometh?

STEVAN! You are such THE BRAT!!!! I ONLY kept Milano Mint for me, but I bought your daddy Orange Milano’s, you children would NOT have known how to ration with rationalization, so there would still be some throughout the entire week or two!
By the way, I STILL have over half a package of MINT cookies in my cupboard since the second or third week we moved here!! And how LONG will your “bought yesterday Milano cookies” LAST???????????

Sherilyn WHY didn’t you tell WHICH parent taught you (by example) that BAD habit?!!! HUH?! Only mother gets exposed for her sins and in that exposure, there is SUCH STRETCHING going on!!!!

Just cause I can, and want to on purpose – I am adding sugar to my Frosted Mini Wheats!! Deal with it!!!!

    MUCH L O V E !
