Unbelievable: Wrong girl declared dead in Taylor crash

6.1.2006 — 4 Comments

The Grant County Coroner acknowledged Wednesday night that his office gave significant weight to IDs found strewn at the scene in misidentifying one of the victims of the April 26 car crash that killed four students and a university employee.

This story, first told to my tonight by my buddy and co-worker, Thomas Hall, makes me want to cry – for both families!

The VanRyn Family has a blog for who they thought was their recovering daughter. The link to their consistent updates is here.

I am still in shock that a mistake like this could even happen..

Please pray for both families – especially Whitney Cerak – the recovering student once thought to be gone.

Pray for the family also of laura. They thought she was recovering, only to find out she was burried 6 weeks prior. Could you imagine that telephone call to the family who thought the burried thier daughter, nowfinding out she is alive..PTL for them.. however, understanding this pain, how heart wrenching for the others or all involved!!

  3. I went to the website and cried. I was amazed by her mothers response to discovering her daughter had died. She is an amazing woman…I would love to meet her. Wow

  4. This IS such an awful piece to have read, let alone imagine it to be real, and feel for the mother and father who got the tragic ‘late’ findings, and also rejoicing with the family who received the wonderful ‘late’ news! Hard to imagine what all must be going on in these precious folks daily living during these days! Prayers from all of us IS what will help keep them in this time of unimaginable mixed sorrow and joy!!

We pray! We thank God and we TRUST Him!!
