I took a few photos of Ella today when I got home from the office before heading to my Monday night Bible Study.
Okay, I took almost 60 photos, but it’s still only a few in comparison to the huge amount that I’ve taken of her in this first month of her life…
Tonight, for the first time we captured Ella smiling – enjoy these:
The entire photoset from today is available here.
Another favorite from today:

And another…

Oh my goodness! She is laughing!! Did she laugh outloud? In the picture with her tongue sticking out, it sure looks like she has a giggle to go along with her expression. And the picture of her in the recliner is adorable. I was with her yesterday and it looks as if she has grown another month older since I saw her. Thank you for sharing these “making me smile” pictures of Ella.
oh my goodness too!!! She’s awesome!! I’m so happy she’s getting more “playable” :)!! I’m gonna so enjoy living 3 hours from this budding life!!!! WHAT FACES! awesome catches!!
Great shots! Those faces and expressions are priceless!! She is so beautiful and looks like she is now responding with more smiles. Oh, that is soooo fun and full of God’s grace.
She is really changing each and every day… she is so precious. How is Jess feeling?
I’m feeling better every day. I’m just exhausted and have to make myself stop and lay Ella down to get a bite to eat. I’m still learning to nap when she does, too. :-) She does not like to lay down–any tips from anyone?
Oh my goodness, three!! Those faces are priceless. Jess, from seeing the photos of Ella’s alert eyes, I don’t think Ella wants to miss a thing going on around her. That is why she likes to sit up. She doesn’t plan to fall asleep. It just happens. So, I don’t have any suggestions. Love on her for me. She’s a doll.
She is so expressive! I love the pictures! Hope you continue to feel better Jess!
Ok, here’s my comment. I have a photo of me many moon ago just like the one of Ella sitting in the big chair. Have the same expression too.
Momma Sweeny
ps how’s that!! Plus I do love looking at her pic’s.
You just got lay her down and let her cry a bit. Babies cry (especially at that age) on an average, 1-4 hours a day! I know, like we want to hear that…hearing a baby cry is in the top five for stress-builders, behind death, job loss, those amazing big things…last night at 5:45 am, Micah woke up, apparently hearing ben’s alarm, and has been doing this for the past three nights…knowing he was not hungry and probabaly okay otherwise, I let him cry it out. He cried for 15 min and then fell back asleep and slept until 9 am. He was fine. They learn how to calm themselves down, but it takes some crying in the process. Anyway, my little soapbox, there…do what you want with it. If you think i’m full of crap, that’s okay. By the way, those pics are adorable. What are you doing, Stevan, making faces at her? Allison
Allison, I just finally got to that chapter in Babywise and am finally learning to do exactly what you have suggested! It works–obviously, you’re not full of anything but good advice!
Now, I’m realizing how much I have to oversee her schedule when we have visitors. I’m all laid back thinking she’ll be fine, but if someone wants to jump at her every cry and pick her up, we pay for it later. :-) I cried when she cried at the beginning and now I just have to endure that stressful sound and pray that I haven’t misjudged what type of cry it is. I think Aunt Bea is right, too–Ella wants to miss nothing! According to my parents, her mother was just like that as a kid, too! :-)
Yes, she is very alert and digging stuff. Micah’s the same way. I know it’s hard…i’ve been there. But, it gets easier, and then there will come the day when she will not cry at all when you lay her down. :) i just gave brennan a bunch of kisses and he’s like, “that’s enough!”…are we already to that point with him…blast! it goes fast, i’m tellin’ you!
