Isn’t this the face of “satisfaction”?
Tonight we put Ella in her new “snuggly” – a gift from her 2nd Cousins in L.A., Brock & Esther Sheets (thank you guys).
Until this gift arrived, we have been “swaddling” Ella with her two arms OUT – they are not included in the burrito-style folding of two “receiving blankets” because they would somehow find their way OUT of our intricately folded origami swaddling and up to Ella’s face and into her mouth.
So, we receive this gift from Brock & Esther (and baby Reagan) and decide to give it a shot – keeping Ella’s hands down by her side to encourage her to be MORE swaddled.
What commenced seemed more like a straight-jacket than a cuddly, swaddled situation –

With merely her tiny little head protruding from this “swaddle-me blanket”, Ella looked hilarious – so of course I snapped photos of our little one.
For about 5-minutes we were literally SHOCKED at how calm she was at having her hands down by her side, wrapped snuggly by this new invention we received from L.A.
About 5-minutes, I said.
In just that amount of time, while we watched, my Houdini-daughter managed to free both of her arms and get them BOTH within mouth-reach!
Seriously, it was an amazing thing to watch.

So, for your next birthday party, corporate event, bar mitzvah, or other “shindig”, consider hiring “Escaping Ella” to entertain your guests!

That last paragraph was so funny. I needed that. Had an awful day on Monday. Root Canal… ahhh. love your photos.
Oh how adorable and interestingly presented. I can just imagine her working those hands to freedom. They are oh, so amazing. So happy that you are soaking up all the details and AMAZING moments.
Way to go Ella! I wish I was there to see it! I didn’t start trying to escape until I was in high school…I’m impressed!
Auntie Jaymie
Ella!! So proud of your freedom struggle! Now just work on the one-word yell … in a William Wallace sort of way: “F.R.E.E.E.E.E.D.O.M.!!!” Enjoy your parents while they are young!! Grandpapa
That’s Grandpapa Paul Sheets!
You’re not the only blogging dad who posts pictures of their kids with funny hats…

Yeaaaahhhhhh Ella! She is one little girl who from day one likes her arms and hands moving and on her face. Jessica, you said she was active that way even in your tummy. So this grandma was cheering for Ella and her freedom too. Believe me, mommy and daddy, Ella will do alot more magical things as she grows that will amaze you! Go Ella go!!!!!
Love from Mom/Grandma Garrett
Stevan, I bet secretly you have been teaching your daughter this magical “Houndini” trick, so she can be your assistant when you do your magic for kids! Hmmmmm, am I right?
