Today was one of “those” days!

3.3.2009 — 9 Comments

This morning at 10AM I met the previous owner (and title holder) of the pickup truck I had just purchased this past weekend. We met at the local Notary office and were ready to sign over the title from her to me.

Sadly neither of us had the proper information. She had her maiden name on the title and I didn’t have a Pennsylvania driver’s license. Ugh.

I ran home, gathered the girls and we headed to Greensburg to FINALLY make having PA licenses a reality.

We got to the office and began the paperwork. I am now a registered voter and driver in Pennsylvania! Jessica is still in “limbo” – they didn’t like her maiden-name social security card that we brought (forgetting that we had the Sheets-version back at the house). She will be “legal” tomorrow!

While were in Greensburg we took Jess to the hospital for her latest round of pre-baby lab-work. Ella and I dropped her off for her 2-hour battery of tests and went to Subway for a late-lunch.

I love having daddy-daughter time like this.

When we got to Subway, I found that Ella had wet through her diaper – thanks to the long-line at the DMV, I’m sure.

I quickly scooped her up and took her to the Subway bathroom. No changing table. I even ventured into the ladies’ restroom – no changing table.

I did a little daddy-engineering and managed to change Ella’s diaper and clothes in a bathroom smaller than our bedroom closet. I deserve an award.

We then headed out to the dining room and ordered our lunch.

After lunch we wasted some time at our favorite bargain-store: Ollie’s and then headed back to the hospital to get Jess and head home.

I called our neighbor and told her that I had my license and found out that she had proof of her maiden-name and we met back at the Notary.

$175 later I have legal-ownership and a license plate on my new truck!

A quick txt to my buddy Clay and I then rushed off to Marsh’s Automotive for my first-ever Pennsylvania Vehicle Inspection hoopla. I met some great guys there and had some good conversation AND my truck passed inspection with no problems!

I jumped back in and even chirped the tires on the way out of there – something gleeful about being able to do that.

I got home, we walked over to the neighbors to say “thanks” again and to deliver some homemade banana bread and their old license plate.

I then put my BHD sticker on the truck to commemorate the event and snapped some photos as the sun set in the distance.

Today was one of “those” days.

A man needs a truck, a fast woman, and a gun. Congratulations on completing the circle of masculinity.
