So, I had my lunch with my buddy Scott Greene – Warsaw Community’s student ministries pastor @ Pickerman’s (a girlie restaurant, but nonetheless, a good lunch)

Afterwards, I headed to Wal-Mart to get my fishing license. $14.25 later, I was a certified fisherman for this year.

I headed to the stream at about 2PM and after a couple dozen casts caught NOTHING.

I was fishing with Ben & Nate and suggested that we go somewhere else – somewhere that actually had FISH. (Nate had caught one fish, and we saw numerous others, but still – we weren’t really FISHING…)

So, we called my favorite pond-owning Bracketts and headed to their place for the afternoon.

We finished our fishing expedition just before 9PM and the final fishing tally for the day was: Nate: 27; Ben: 16; Stevan: 29.

Yes folks, I out-fished these two whipper-snappers – AND LOVED IT!

We had an absolute blast.

We will be spending many more hours on Brackett-pond this summer, and I can’t wait!

Day Off.

On Wednesdays, I am still “immature” enough to stay up as late as I possibly can. You know what I’m talking about – staying up until your eyes cross and you can’t function as a normal human being any more…

Well, on Thursdays, somehow the telephone always rings around 8:30 or 9:00 – usually the best sleep I’m getting ALL NIGHT!

Is this called “Murphy’s Law” – or is this called “YOU SHOULD BE UP ANYWAYS, YOU IMMATURE PUNK”?

I’m tired.

Eating lunch with a youth pastor buddy then I’m going to buy my fishing license and hit up a local stream with Ben this afternoon! Won’t catch anything big in this stream, but the fun of fishing will overtake the need for catching a “lunker”!

I owe my softball team an apology.

In the bottom of the 7th (last inning in a church-league softball game), I was up to bat with 2-outs. I hit a nice hit over the second baseman. To make a long story shorter, I rounded first and headed to second, but I was over my head. The ball was thrown to second as I arrived.

In an attempt to be safe at second, I was tagged and was “out”.

Pretty sad.

Anyways, I was pretty upset at myself and walked off the field without the usual “shaking hands of the other team” ritual that takes place after each game. I just walked myself off the field and sat sadly in the dugout.

It was during my “sadness state” that one of my teens who was merely watching the game said out-loud: “That’s not very good sportsmanship.”

Ouch.

Neither service this weekend was recorded.

Guess you’ll never know what my “When I grow up, I want to be a Father!” sermon was all about.

Bummer.
