ADVANCE – Day 2

10.8.2005 — 1 Comment

With an early morning start, the ADVANCE’s second day started on a great note with a worship time and then another session with Rev. Klein.

Afterwards, I had my seminar with a good crowd of youth leaders who left with arms full of resources!

The afternoon was great with various other seminars and another Ken Klein message in the evening.

After things were over, Jess and I enjoyed dinner with the Hofer family. Mike and Kristen are the new youth pastors at College Wesleyan. Mike and I were close at IWU and Jess and Kristen were close, too! It was great to connect with them! (and of course spend some quality time with their children: Tim – 3 years-old and Alex – 6-months-old!)

When we finished supper, a quick trip BACK to the Tree of Life bookstore was in order to see our good buddy Phil Stuller who works there now part time as he finishes his last year at IWU.

Good day.

Lot’s of pictures, too!

Thanks for helping me spell Ken’s name right, Kory.

This is our weekend speaker, Rev. Ken Klein. I uploaded the pictures from today’s events tonight instead of getting my extra rest!

I am about to close my eyes as I type this just to see if I can fall asleep at the computer!

Enjoy more photos here.

Update from Marion

I got to Marion safe and sound this morning, stopped at Tree of Life coffee shop/bookstore for a morning-chai and headed to Jonesboro for theADVANCE.

After spending too long trying to hook up a desktop computer to the wireless network and FINALLY being successful, we all headed out for our first “fun” time of the day.

What did we do?

First we went bowling. Good times. I broke 100 on both games. Barely, bust still, broke 100!

After bowling, we headed to lunch at East of Chicago Pizza.

After lunch it was off to shoot guns in someone’s field at poor, innocent clay pigeons! Good times there, too!

After skeet-shooting we headed back to Jonesboro for a bit before heading to IWU for supper and the “IWU-pitch”. Now we’re chilling at JC Bodyshop and in a couple hours we’ll have our first session with Rev. Ken Kline.

I got to spend some good quality time with Ken on the trip from Jonesboro to IWU as he rode with me. It’s always good to get an outsiders perspective on ministry. Ken is the pastor at Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church in North Carolina.

After tonight’s session, I will head back home (1.5 hours) and then sleep for a couple hours and head right back for another session tomorrow morning @ 9AM. Jess will be joining me tomorrow.

Of course I’ve been snapping pictures every few minutes and will post those when time allows (and/or when I remember to bring my USB cord and a fresh battery with me!)

After sleeping in for a bit this morning, I got up, headed to the office where I packed up numerous boxes of “freebies” – items that will be distributed this weekend to youth leaders that attend my seminar. I also loaded up a desktop computer, 17″ LCD monitor, sound board, wireless mic, and various cords.

The back seat of my car looks like I have taken up thievery as a hobby.

I found a video tonight via my web-friend Joshua. If you were offended by the sermon-blooper video from a week ago, you won’t like this one either. Here is the link to the video. (700kb .mov)
