This morning started at 5:30AM.

I was in the office a little before 6:30AM and had some great prayer time and final study-time before services started today.

It was about 7:30AM that I decided to “try” and get our church’s antenna to bring in the ABC channel we would need to broadcast tonight’s Super Bowl.

I tried and the antenna failed to bring in ABC. Not a good thing when you’re planning on 50-75 people coming to the church to watch the BIG GAME and fellowship together. Not a good thing at all.

This started the pre-game jitters to say the least.

Failed attempt after failed attempt to come up with a solution. Myself and two of our church guys and even my Father-in-law who was visiting today settled on “Plan X”.

1,000 feet of coax cable, a booster-box, a splitter, 4 new cable connectors, and a splice later we had ABC in the gym. (Thank you Gene and Dora Jane for the use of your cable television 1,000 feet away!)

What seemed like a hopeless situation and a Super Bowl celebration that “just might not happen” became the best Super Bowl party I’ve seen in the last 4-years of being on staff here at Warsaw Wesleyan. 103 people, all the Mt. Dew I could drink, the game on a 10′ x 14′ screen, the Steelers winning, and the adventure of the day’s events made today a VERY memorable day.

Oh – I almost forgot – the Lord absolutely blessed this morning’s two services with His annointing. I spoke on “The Words In Our Lives” and God moved hearts in both services! What an honor to break the Bread of Life with my Warsaw Wesleyan family this morning. Sermon PowerPoint slides and mp3 will be forthcoming. (I need some sleep – BADLY!)

A SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM EST SUNDAY.

LIGHT TO AT TIMES MODERATE SNOW WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT. STORM TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATION BY SUNDAY MORNING ARE EXPECTED TO RANGE FROM 3 TO 6 INCHES. NORTHWEST WINDS WILL INCREASE THIS EVENING TO 20 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 35 MPH. THESE STRONG WINDS WILL CREATE CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW TONIGHT…ESPECIALLY IN OPEN AREAS.

A SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW ADVISORY MEANS THAT VISIBILITIES WILL BE LIMITED DUE TO A COMBINATION OF FALLING AND BLOWING SNOW. USE CAUTION WHEN TRAVELING…ESPECIALLY IN OPEN AREAS.

Maybe Winter will FINALLY show up tonight?

Amazingly, the Power Team is still around after all of these years!

I talked my wonderful wife into going with me tonight to the 2-hour presentation at the Warsaw Community Grace Brethren Church to watch these guys tear stuff apart.

They had actually been to her school this morning performing a live demonstration for the student body, too – so it didn’t take much to convince her to go.

I was pretty amazed, again, at just how tough these guys are – their stunts aren’t wimpy, though they DO seem to “act” a little more.

Anyone else watch 3-hours of television tonight? We’re also looking forward to our Tuesday night “Amazing Race” premiere in a few weeks!

I enjoyed lunch with my buddy, Kory Pence today in Marion – I met him there to visit for a quick lunch and then spent most of my afternoon waiting for my oil change and tire rotation and balance at Wal-Mart. Sorry to all of my “Marion connections” that I didn’t have time to visit today!

Tonight after a lovely dinner at Applebee’s with our new friends, Erik & Megan Barker, Jess and I headed home in time for the State of the Union address by our President, George Bush.

I was very upset by the blatant disrespect the President received from much of the Democratic party during his speach.

At one point, the President said something to the effect of, “You did NOT approve my heath care reformation…” and was INSTANTLY bombarded by applause and cheers from the Democrat party representatives.

It was such an awkward moment of the address that I was confused how the President would continue on.

He did, however, and held his head high as he continued to speak.

I wonder how such severe disrespect is now tolerated for the world’s most powerful leader. No wonder terrorist dictators threaten us – they see our weaknesses in the blatant, public instances like tonight.

He’s our President – the Leader of our Country – not some politic-spinning athlete or celebrity. Treat him with respect Mr. & Mrs. Representative. For the good of our nation.
