The closing ceremonies of the 20th Winter Olympic Games were absolutely incredible. If you missed them, shame on you. Actually, I can understand missing them – I wouldn’t have even known they were happening except for a phone call from my mother this afternoon! I watched more Olympics tonight than in the entire 17-days they were happening.

Seriously though – the “skydivers” were the coolest part! Dad and Sherilyn and I each did the “indoor version” of skydiving in Gatlinburg, TN when I was still in High School! We never did anything as cool as what these guys did tonight, but we still experienced a bit of what they did!

Also – I’m pretty sure the Cirque Du Soleil is going to have a BIG part in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancoover, Canada as per what looked like a Cirque Du Soleil “preview” tonight!

Today I finished (after only 2-days of reading!) the Chuck Norris autobiography, “Against All Odds”.

To be honest, I picked this book up more as a joke than as a “I’m going to read this”, but as soon as I read the first few chapters, I knew I had to finish it!

Seriously, who DOESN’T want to know the real-life story of Mr. Chuck Norris?!

The book shows Norris’ strengths and weaknesses (weaknesses?) as he talks of his life-path. He admits sins and faults and also promotes family, the Christian Faith and pride in our Country.

I learned a lot reading this book about the man and his commitment to his family and his commitment to Christ!

Can anyone help me fulfill a life-long dream to meet Mr. Norris?

Tonight, the Young Adult class surprised us with a Baby Shower! (I actually knew about it for about a month and a half and had to keep it a secret from my wifey – thanks to my friend Gabe Ritter!)

It was an amazing evening! It was mostly a book-shower but we also received some bibs, a few “toiletries”, as well as some rubber gloves, a pair of safety glasses, and some face-masks for me and my diaper-changing duties! Oh dear.

We stayed at the French’s home for almost 5-hours enjoying the fellowship and stories!

We are blessed to have such friends!

Complete photoset is here.

So, week 2 is under our belts.

Speaking of “under the belt”, we watched THE video tonight – “The Stages of Labor”.

We were warned about this one weeks before we even started this class – and rightly so!

Let’s just be honest – there is nothing “attractive” about childbirth.

Not even the “alien life-form” is attractive at the moment of birth!

Maybe ours will be?

We had a different teacher than last week and she “caught” us practicing our breathing techniques on the way into class and instantly pegged me as a “funny guy”.

Such type-casting!

We did also learn another breathing technique, too, tonight – so that’s more homework for next week again.

And I didn’t even come CLOSE to getting sick during the video by the way!
