plane.jpgTomorrow afternoon I will be jumping on one of these bad-boys (a Fairchild 328JET) which happens to be a 32-passenger, leather-seat reclining, Midwest flight from Indy to Milwaukee.

I am excited to get back into the loving arms of my wife and daughter tomorrow! It has been good to be in Indianapolis working with some denominational leaders and talking about some things that will have a lasting and positive-impact on some of the structure of the Wesleyan denomination.

It’s also been good to hang with some of my buds for the last couple of hours, too!

Nothing, however, will be as satisfying as arriving back in Milwaukee and being picked up by Jess & Ella!

MOVIE REVIEW: The Prestige (PG-13)

movie1.jpgAfter our theater-visit and stuffing our faces with numerous goodies from the Chinese buffet, we came home and found “Prestige” on-demand.

I did enjoy the film – it’s one that I was hoping to be able to see months ago and never had the opportunity. As an wanna-be amateur magician the previews for this film appealed to me on numerous levels. Watching the actual film was a bit disappointing, however.

Knowing that it was a film and involved very little “real” illusions (if any), I was left wanting much, much more. The plot was great, however, and did keep my brain making up the “answer” to its question.

The ending WAS a bit disappointing for me, but I guess that’s to be expected with what I like to think of as an “illusionist background”!

MOVIE REVIEW: Resident Evil 3 – Extinction (R)

movie.jpgDuring my final hours in Indianapolis this evening, Kory, Magee and I took in a showing of Resident Evil 3 without much consideration, thought, or even good reason. I’m pretty sure “let’s go see a movie so we don’t have to communicate” was mentioned at least once. That phrase was quickly met by my “I would never take Jess to a ‘zombie flick'”, and we were quickly driving towards the theater.

Two-hours, numerous zombie-kills, some intense action sequences, evil/killer crows, and a ridiculous plot-later we were finished and quickly rushed to the comfort of daylight.

The conversation over our over-priced Chinese buffet plates was quite humorous as you can imagine.

Bottom line – don’t waste your money – it wasn’t even as fun watching the movie as it was watching my buds play this game on PlayStation back in college!

Blockhead Management

bh.jpgIf you are in youth ministry and you are currently NOT using any sort of “youth tracking software” to keep track of your students’ and leader information, let me suggest to you the powerfully wonderful Blockhead Management!

Currently still in its “beta” release, Blockhead serves ME very well – and if you know me and my “tendencies”, you know this is somewhat or a miracle. There are still some “bugs” they are working out and it’s not officially publicly released yet, but you can sign up right now and use the software for FREE FOREVER. The post-beta release will be ads-based and that is how they will pay for their costs – in my opinion, this is COMPLETELY worth it.

I have entered all of my students’ information into this web-accessible database and given my leaders access to the same information I have – it’s an incredible time-saver!

Since it’s still in “beta”, if you sign up you will have to enter a credit card # to register to use the service though there will be no charge. I look forward to the “public release” and more bells and whistles as they become available.
