VBS

8.4.2008 — Leave a comment

Last night we began our 5-night VBS here at Our Savior’s Wesleyan.

61-kids showed up for the first night. With VBS-staff and parents who stuck-around, we had over 100 people gathered to enjoy this year’s “Amazon Expedition”-themed vacation Bible school.

All week I am playing the part of “Stevan” (unique, isn’t it?) an Amazon River Guide who is, of all things, scared of the water. I have a canoe and mini-camp setup on the stage and carry my trusted paddle with me wherever I go. Each night, the group with the most offering collected (offering goes to Nicaragua) will get to throw water balloons at me – made a bigger deal because I’m “scared” of the water. I get to introduce our guests each night as well as challenge students in their Scripture memory and introduce a different Amazon-animal fact each night.

VBS always messes up the weekly-routine, but the fruits of the work our church puts in are always worth the effort!

Tonight after supper, Ella and I went outside to pull some weeds in the garden and thin-out the cucumber plants that are overtaking. Mommy came out too after cleaning up the dishes and we were soon visited by our garden bunny.

Ella loved the bunny. She wanted it. Badly.

These video moments are priceless:

Thanks for your attempts at humor my friends and family.

Jott.com apparently has a bit of trouble translating my Maryland-Georgia-New York-South Carolina-Indiana-Wisconsin accent accurately. Thanks for forgiving Jott’s inconsistencies!

We’re home.

I’m in the office. Life is again going at too-fast a pace.

Regular dot-com updates will resume momentarily including an incredible picture-full update from vacation. Until then, please enjoy this video of Ella –

A quick update from the road, it’s 4:40 in the afternoon, Eastern Standard Time, and we are driving on IED, heading West, towards our home in Wisconsin. Ella(?) is in the back seat watching backyardignas and Jeff is reading, I am trying our eyes on the road. We’re stopping tonight in… listen
