Parkour

Parkour, also known as Free Running is becoming more and more known as movies and television continue to feature it. I’ve been a fan of Parkour since Jeremy & CJ (two of my teens in Warsaw, IN) showed me the movie, “Yamakasi” 7-years ago!

I just came across some of the best Parkour clips YouTube has to offer and felt like sharing them here on stevansheets.com:

For about a month, Jess has been mentioning things like “I think something is wrong with our fridge.” and “Did you hear that? That’s the fridge.” To which I usually respond with silence and the thought-process of “I hope it’s not the fridge, I don’t want to deal with it.”

Well, it’s official. Our fridge is dead. Not cold, not cool, just a box with spoiled food in it.

Nice.

We’ve never owned a fridge – we’ve only lived in parsonages and rentals where the fridge has already been provided. Same is true here in our parsonage, so we’re waiting to see exactly what happens…

Sadly our renter’s insurance deductible is $500 and unlike you stevansheets.com readers, we don’t keep Lobster Tail in our freezers, so we’ve gotta replace our fridge-contents on our own.

Jess is now going through the fridge item-by-item and coming up with a list of “the replacements”.

Can’t wait for that shopping trip!

Anyone know of a great deal on a fridge I can tell our church trustees about?

I’ve been using my Pre for almost a week now and have been ONLY sending e-mail from my “standard” gmail account –

This has been fine, except for when I’m trying to send out a mass-email to the church, when some people get an e-mail from “navets{at}gmail.com” or “stevan{at}stevansheets.com” they don’t know who in the world that is. (It’s me, by the way).

So today I did a little digging and found a great tutorial on adding my other Google Apps accounts to my Pre’s e-mail app. Works like a charm: http://flipthe.org/how-to-set-up-push-email-for-google-apps-and-gmail-on-palm-pre/

Now, I can send an e-mail as stevan{at}armbrustwesleyan.com so that people don’t get confused with who is sending them an updated prayer request as I’m walking out of a hospital visit!

Palm Pre Thoughts

10.1.2009 — 1 Comment

I upgraded my phone the last week of September to a Palm Pre. So far, I love and hate it. I’m still learning new things everyday about it and have a hunger to know all I can about it.

Some initial impressions:

1. Screen images are beautiful! The colors are crisp and details are gorgeous. I’m still looking at the screen through the protective plastic, too!

2. Battery life is awful. I’m typing this post from my iPod Touch because my Pre’s battery is dead, again. I can hardly make it through the day on a single charge. It is worth noting that in the office, I am roaming for cell service at all times.

3. Sadly, the MMS service (text messaging) does not support sending to E-mail addresses. This will hopefully change in the future. As of now, if I’m roaming, I cannot upload a picture to services like TwitPic. On my old phone, I could send MMS messages to phones AND E-mails.

4. The camera is great (sometimes)! At 3-megapixels, the camera is more than twice as good as the one on my LG Rumor. It even has a built-in flash. It’s missing a self-timer and red-eye reduction. I’d also like to see features like sepia and b&w.

5. The Palm App Store is embarrassing. Seriously. The iPhone/ iTouch Apps seem to be never-ending. Notsomuch for the Palm. They say we’ll continue to see new apps. I hope “they’re” right! There are numerous “homebrew” apps available, but none yet that blow me away.

More thoughts to come.

Unbelievable:
