Sexting Phenomenon

4.21.2009 — 1 Comment

Parents and youth leaders need to stay apprised to the current trend of ‘sexting’ with students.

I just watched this interesting video from MSNBC talking about Vermont’s attempt to change laws lessening the punishment for ‘sexting” while at the same time trying to promote family-oriented-education about the subject.

I am disgusted by some of the dialogue on this clip that says students shouldn’t be held responsible for their actions. For instance, the Vermont Senator brings into question whether a student should not be allowed to go into the teaching-field due to being prosecuted for ‘sexting’ and becoming a registered sex-offender. If families (and government) continue to bail-out our students to make their decisions less-repercussive, aren’t we contributing to the failing of our society?

Here’s the clip from MSNBC:

Why is it that liberals can have their opinions about issues (gay marriage, for instance), and can shout their slogans, ideals, and attitudes from the mountain tops, but when a conservative voices his (or her, in this case) opinion, some of those same liberals get caught off-guard and slam them for their beliefs?

I saw just a quick clip this morning that something happened with Perez Hilton and one of the Miss USA contestants last night and quickly found the clips on YouTube to confirm my suspicions:

I would hope that with any such platform (ie, Miss USA contestant) a person with conservative values would be welcome to share their opinion and ethical viewpoint without cause for such a media-uproar.

I’m embarrassed at where we are as a country.

What a great time today at our church’s annual Easter Egg Hunt!
