I finally checked out the band, “Gungor”. One word: Wow.

Passionate Christ-centered lyrics, skillful instrumentalists, and a unique band name (which is merely lead guy Michael’s last name) = amazing.

They played at Catalyst in Atlanta last week and ever since there has been quite the grassroots movement on Twitter/Facebook/Blogs promoting this band to the masses. If you’re looking for a fresh worship band to add to your playlist, I think you’ll like their passionate acoustic version of “Beautiful Things”:

“Beautiful Things” Lyrics:
All this pain
I wonder if I’ll even find my way
I wonder if my life could really change at all
All this earth
Could all that is lost ever be found
Could a garden come up from this ground at all

You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of the dust
You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of us

All around
Hope is springing up from this old ground
Out of chaos life is being found in You

You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of the dust
You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of us

You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of the dust
You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of us

You make me new, You are making me new
You make me new, You are making me new

You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of the dust
You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of us

Their new album, “Beautiful Things” is on Amazon MP3 right now for $9.99.

If you know me, you know of my slight obsession with real-life Survivalists, Bear Grylls and Les Stroud. These guys have been challenging me from the comfort of my couch to get out and not only survive, but THRIVE amidst the dangers of the great outdoors.

Today I stumbled upon a new creation by Bear Grylls – it’s a collaborative-creation between Bear and Gerber (makers of all things ‘sharp’).

Check it out and tell me this wouldn’t be the coolest Christmas gift, ever.

Wanna buy one? They’re available at Amazon.com (of course)!

We had a groundhog tearing holes around our shed on our church property over the last few weeks. One of our trustees borrowed a live trap and captured the big guy. He stopped by the office to let me know that he had accomplished the capture and asked if I wanted to join him for the release!

We drove a few miles away to a State game land area and set Punxy Phil free to live again in his new neighborhood:

Yesterday I started a new series, “The Real Church”. It was a challenging message to prepare and deliver, but seemed to be well-received. It is a series that I believe will begin to lay out what I think is God’s vision for First Wesleyan Church and where we being led by His Spirit.

It was a special treat to have my sister in law visiting from Indiana over the weekend and she was able to put together a special song to sing with Jess AND Ella for Sunday morning! It was a very special moment for our family!

I love this timelapse video of the Northern Lights by National Geographic. Reminds me of a laser light show. Quite breathtaking on video. I can only imagine how much more it would take away my breath in person!

The Northern Lights are one of nature’s most spectacular visual phenomena, and in this time lapse video they provide a breathtaking display of light, shape, and color over the course of a single night in Norway.

How many are your works, O LORD! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. Psalm 104:24
