I gave Ella the video camera to capture our evening Sky Lantern launch. I’m pretty impressed with how well she framed things for the most part. Not bad for a 5-year-old!
What she misses in videographing she more-than makes up for in her voice-over dialog! I am a blessed Daddy! (You’ll know what I mean when you hear her tenderly-exclaimed warning, “be careful Daddy!”)
Note to self: give Ella the video camera more often!

I had the privilege again this morning of being a guest on The Techology Show this morning. We chatted about a variety of subjects including Rob Bell & his book “Love Wins”. We also chatted in length about the book “Heaven is For Real” by Todd Burpo which I reviewed here a few months ago.
Here is the video of today’s podcast:
Thanks to Tony, Heath, Matthew, and Steve for inviting me again to be involved in this!
I love finding out what some of my peers are doing after I’ve lost contact with them due to distance and time since high school or college. One of my college peers, Peter Heck, has been up to quite a bit since graduation 10-years ago. Peter hosts a radio show called “The Peter Heck Radio Show“.
The Peter Heck Radio Show debuted in the summer of 2004 on 1350 AM, WIOU Kokomo which still serves as the program’s flagship station. The show, broadcast from central Indiana, is archived on the internet every weekday immediately following each show. The program’s weekly highlights podcast is followed around the United States. Peter has been heard on nearly 200 radio stations in the country courtesy of American Family Radio Network.
On top of his radio show, Peter is also a public high school teacher and a sought-after public speaker. He has some clips of his public speaking available through YouTube and I’ve been both entertained and inspired by a few of his clips:
One of his presentations, “God and Government” is one I’d love to have opportunity to attend:

1. A fireworks display.
2. A brilliant performance or display.
Tonight after shopping in Chambersburg, I realized it had been at least a couple of weeks since I’ve stopped in at Bravo Fireworks. It has been MONTHS since we’ve been able to launch a “Sky Lantern” due to the fact that I left my box of them at my Aunt and Uncle’s house in DC (I AM coming back for those, by the way).
So I stopped in. And of course I brought Ella in with me for a quick look-around. We got some great deals on a handful of items and headed home. Before going inside for the night I grabbed a lighter and we had a little fun. NOTE: when I was a teenager living in South Carolina, I NEVER thought that I would enjoy living in a state where “legal fireworks” consisted of ONLY things that had no bang. I am proud to admit that I was wrong – some of the legal fireworks we can use here in PA are TERRIFIC!
I captured a couple videos of our safe-fun tonight:
