Archives For General

So at lunch today, Scott tells me that our Warsaw mayor’s accounting office sign is printed with his partner’s name on it as well and that together they’re names are “Burton & Ernest” (Bert & Ernie)

So what do I do?

I leave lunch and go photograph the sign.

Hilarious? I think so.

Comment Success?

11.17.2005 — 8 Comments

After waiting more than 24-hours for 50 “unique” comments, I read “Kathy’s” words in her latest comment:

By the way even though some of those comments are from the same people – they are still unique!

After reading this line in her comment, I wondered how many “commenters” wondered what “unique” meant. “unique” originally meant that they would be comments from 50-different users, but thanks to Kathy’s comment, she was true in calling each comment “unique” in and of themselves.

So, after 24+ hours, stevansheets.com is back – it wasn’t like I wasn’t coming back anyways!

For the latest stevansheets.com enjoyment, I present to you a video of a “public pillow fight” in downtown Toronto. (183kb .mov) [via]

The comments-section here at stevansheets.com has been lacking lately.

Either you just don’t WANT to comment or you haven’t really had a reason to comment.

Here’s your reason: BECAUSE.

For the next 24-hours I will not post again.

This is your chance to show your stevansheets.com support by posting a comment!

With the hundreds of hits we receive daily, I think a reasonable goal is 50-unique-comments!

So let’s have ’em. If you read these words, comment! It’s that easy!

Commence commenting, please.

(this will also be an attempt at helping my “web-self-esteem balloon” inflate)

Gumbo is GREAT!

11.13.2005 — 3 Comments

Tonight after evening service we were invited to the home of Tom & Wendy Brackett for some homemade Southern Gumbo.

Honestly, Jess and I were a bit nervous being invited over for a meal that neither of us had ever tried before – and we were honest with Tom and Wendy about it. They assured us that we would like it – AND BOY DID WE EVER! Jess finished her complete bowl and I even went back for a second-helping – WITHOUT DESSERT!

It was a great time hanging with Tom, Wendy, Elle, Nicole, Thomas, and Katie! They have a beautiful home and a loving family – although, even as hard as I tried – Katie wouldn’t tell me that I was her friend before we left… She loves Jess and Jess’ baby, though!

This morning Dad and Mom Garrett came to second service and then took us out to Sunday dinner at Backyard BBQ up in Goshen. We have been wanting to share that restaurant with them for some time and finally got the chance today. After dinner we came home and finished the 4th quarter of the Colts stomping those crazy Houston Texans.

Both worship services this morning were high-energy and with a challenge of committing to collect 100 “Operation Christmas Child” shoeboxes, we came through with donating more than 200!

Tomorrow morning it’s off to Ft. Wayne for a District Youth Cabinet meeting. It’s always a good time together at these – and I’m looking forward to hanging with my ministry-brothers for the morning!

I’m tired!

11.11.2005 — 2 Comments

After staying up too late watching the usual Thursday-night programming, getting up and coming into the office early this morning, and playing 9-holes at Rozella Ford (Dan shot a 50 and I shot a 56), I’m officially tired.

I also managed to figure out the LOGOS5 registration website and get all 36 of our attendees registered to go to the convention. Now if I can just figure out how to pay for it all! (Did you know that a 15-passenger van costs $150/day to rent? We’ll need to rent 2 on top of our own church van!)

I’m meeting Jess and the Stivers for dinner in a few minutes and then we’re off to the High School musical. If I can stay awake through the evening’s events it will be a miracle.
