Stayed up too-late last night enjoying Perry Noble’s leadership talk at this year’s UNLEASH conference at New Spring in Anderson, SC.
Good stuff! You too can get this free resource here.
Thanks to my buddy Jason Knepp for sharing this amazing story with me via e-mail:
In 1986, Dan Harrison was on holiday in Kenya after graduating from Northwestern University .
On a hike through the bush, he came across a young bull elephant standing with one leg raised in the air. The elephant seemed distressed, so Dan approached it very carefully.
He got down on one knee and inspected the elephant’s foot and found a large piece of wood deeply embedded in it..
As carefully and as gently as he could, Dan worked the wood out with his hunting knife, after which the elephant gingerly put down its foot.
The elephant turned to face the man, and with a rather curious look on its face, stared at him for several tense moments.
Dan stood frozen, thinking of nothing else but being trampled. Eventually the elephant trumpeted loudly, turned, and walked away.
Dan never forgot that elephant or the events of that day.
Twenty years later, Dan was walking through the Chicago Zoo with his teenage son.
As they approached the elephant enclosure, one of the creatures turned and walked over to near where Dan and his son Dan Jr. were standing.
The large bull elephant stared at Dan , lifted its front foot off the ground, and then put it down. The elephant did that several times then tru mpeted loudly, all the while staring at the man.
Remembering the encounter in 1986, Dan couldn’t help wondering if this was the same elephant.
Dan summoned up his courage, looked to see if any guards were around and then climbed over th e ra iling and made his way into the enclosure. He walked right up to the elephant and stared back in wonder.
The elephant trumpeted again, wrapped its trunk around one of Dan’s legs and slammed him against the railing, killing him instantly.
Probably wasn’t the same elephant.
So Jess has been reading these “frugal” blogs lately and today I stumbled upon my first one – “The Frugal Dad” and it was great! I learned some stuff that I will eventually be sharing here as we continue our journey towards debt-free living!
I wanted to share one of the things that I did today that cost me nothing and by the end of about 15-minutes netted me about $11.
It’s from a website called “Cash Crate” and for signing up and taking various surveys and giving out your e-mail address, home address and selling your first-born (just kidding) they’ll give you cash towards your account and when you reach the $10 dollar amount they’ll send you a check!
Of course if you click on the banner below and sign up, when you reach the $10 mark I’ll get a kick-back of $3 just for referring you.

A word of wisdom before you sign up for anything like this – be sure and use an e-mail address thats not your “ONLY” e-mail address – I use my gmail address when signing up for offers so that I can be sure and block any potential SPAM that may happen after participating in any online-survey that may in-turn sell my e-mail address to “Joe and his amazing fertility pills”!
