Wordle(dot-net)

6.27.2008 — 4 Comments

My buddy Glen turned me on to a new website via his blog today.

It’s called “Wordle.net” and it’s pretty fun. What it does is take your text and put it into “clouds”!

From their site:

Wordle is a toy for generating “word clouds” from text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and color schemes. The images you create with Wordle are yours to use however you like. You can print them out, or save them to the Wordle gallery to share with your friends.

Here’s my first “wordle” – a look at a sermon I preached a few months ago in “cloud format”:

Hopefully you’ve been able to keep up with the day-to-day via my Twitter posts (those are designed to be the updates between blog posts, ya know), but it has been too long for an update here at stevansheets.com.

Tomorrow morning Jess and I head to Wisconsin Rapids for our Wisconsin District Conference. Ella will be staying behind with Aunt Sher – and she is VERY pleased!

When we return on Friday our schedule gets even crazier!

We’re hanging on for the crazy ride ahead!

Oops.

The US Navy Base in Coronado, CA.

Wow, what a round of golf! I will definitely never forget those 18-holes.

As soon as we arrived on the course I knew today would be different than any previous round of golf I’d ever played! As we pulled up to the clubhouse I thought we were being robbed as a guy opened the hatchback of the van and took our clubs for us! What a treat!

We walked inside and turned in our coupons and were shown to our cart where our bags were already placed! I was further-impressed with the on-board GPS & digital scorecard built into the ceiling of our cart! How cool?!

My first 9-holes went quite well and I finished only 20-ish over par on the front nine. I don’t even want to talk about the back nine! In all, I think I’ve calculated losing AT LEAST twenty golf balls! Yes, 20! Embarrassing.

The Bull proved to be the absolute toughest round of golf that I’ve ever played and the most memorable! Thanks Gerry for taking me along!

More pictures here.

Tomorrow morning Pastor Gerry and I will be getting up bright and early and heading North to Sheboygan Falls, WI to play 18-holes on the Jack Nicklaus signature-course, “The Bull”.

Gerry won two tickets to play this course at the Pastor’s Appreciation luncheon we attended last year and as he came back to our table he told me that I’d be playing the course with him!

This will more-than-likely be the ONLY time I ever play a course that charges $145 for a round of golf. I’m a bit intimidated! I can’t wait!

Stay tuned for live-tweets from the course via Twitter and of course I’ll bring the camera along to document this historic-occasion!

Here’s the layout of the course:
