Some of you may know of our family-decision to begin the steps towards Financial Peace by participating in Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University.
Step One of the program is to save $1,000 as an emergency fund.
We’ve done that twice now. :)
We’ve had to use it for two emergencies and we’re now building it back up a third time – each time it was a “life saver” because before the program, these “emergencies” would’ve gone onto a 15% interest-rate credit card. No more, Praise the Lord!
In our class we were directed to an online bank, “ING-DIRECT” to pursue a higher-interest rate yield on our Emergency Savings Fund.
It’s too good of a deal NOT to share with readers of stevansheets.com.
Chances are that your local bank is giving you a whole .5% on your crazy little savings account through them. ING, on the other hand, offers a whopping 3%! You’re reading that right! 3-percent. All you have to do is open up an account with them that directly links to your bank-account and they’ll confirm your information and you can start saving TODAY!
We’ve done this and opened our account with $250 which in turn they gave us an extra $25 into our account for opening with $250 or more. They’re also asking us to refer new members who may be interested and for every referral we give them they’ll give us another $10 in our account!
If you’re interested, at all, check them out at www.ingdirect.com; if you’re interested in opening an account with $250 or more, leave a comment and I’d love to send you a referral link to your e-mail that would in-turn, bless our family with another $10 towards our debt-free living!
Went with Mike & Tom to see a matinée of Vantage Point on Tuesday this week in Delafield.
I thoroughly enjoyed this film. The plot and re-plot and re-plot, even. I guessed a major portion of “what happens” pretty early on, but was not discouraged to continue to be pulled-in to the film. I love the way it was shot and how it takes us through various ‘vantage points’ quite literally.
I was a little disgusted at Dennis Quaid’s wholesome, “family-friendly” image being quickly tarnished by dropping a very weird f-bomb near the end of the movie.
Quick soap-box: Why do producers/writers/directors feel the need to insert these nasty little 4-letter-words – especially in situations where it seems awkward and rehearsed and unnatural (yes, I’m saying that for some characters those words ARE natural – you work with some of them, don’t you?)…
All in all, the movie was good. The storyline revolves around a terrorist attack in Spain and I found it interesting that all “religiosity” was removed from the film surrounding the terrorists intentions. I also enjoyed a line that exclaimed that the government has used “body doubles” since the Reagan-era. Makes me wonder…
So tonight before our family-dinner out at Fazoli’s, we stopped in at Wal-Mart’s garden-shop and picked up this year’s garden-goodness!
After Ella’s bath and after she was down-for-the-count and Jess was over at Praise Team practice, I headed into the kitchen to begin my farming duties.
Here’s the rundown:
25 corn-pods.
6 pea-pods.
6 pepper-pods.
6 tomato-pods.
12 marigold-pods. (to keep the varmints out)
30 green bean-pods.
12 cucumber pods.
All were planted 2-seeds to a pod and with tender loving care by yours truly.
Now they sit in the back foyer and you can bet the web-world will be updated on their status frequently (when they sprout at least).
Here’s the farm so far:
Now if I can just get the rest of this snow to melt I can begin work on the seeds’ new home in our backyard!
Wingclips has some great clips from the upcoming movie available here.
I plan on seeing this film as soon as it’s possible. April 18th-ish.
