Had great services this morning at church.

After church we headed to Al & Millie Miller’s home for lunch with Pastor Bill and June Kinnan. GREAT times there!

Came home after the Miller’s sent us away with a cooler-full of frozen beef (they slaughter their own every year and give us a TON!) and found room for it all out our freezer (and my icecream sandwiches!)

After a little restbit we headed back to church tonight for evening service and then a chili-dinner! I ate too much chili.

Full day tomorrow and then Tuesday I’m playing “chaperone” for Jess’ first-grade class fieldtrip! That should be fun!

Kingdom Of HeavenWhat a great history lesson Jess and I had this evening as we sat through the 2+ hours of Ridley Scott’s “Kingdom of Heaven” (Rated R). I don’t know of any other movie that depicts the history of the Christian Crusades against the Muslims and the Muslim overthrow of Jerusalem some 800 years ago.

Amazing imagery, amazing acting, and plot all made this movie a great one.

The extras on Disc 2 are lacking, if you ask me, so I assume that another release will follow this one with more “special features”.

I’m glad we rented this one instead of bought it – mainly because I have a lot of the “Epics” and this one, while great, doesn’t make it to my Top 5 list quite yet.

Also – is anyone else tired of Orlando Bloom acting in EVERYTHING?

Notre Dame vs. USC

That was a nail-biter.

None of my children will ever attend either school, but living so close to “Touchdown Jesus” at Notre Dame, you can’t help root for those guys.

They gave it their all and the last 20-seconds of the game just didn’t go their way.

Stupid Trojans.

Final score: 34 – 31

Stupid Trojans.

the notebookTonight Jess and I sat and watched “The Notebook” (PG-13). We had been “told” to watch this movie ever since it first released in theaters, but I tried my best to avoid any situation where it would be possible.

The other day, my buddy Kory told us on the phone that he had seen it and that we had to see it if we hadn’t already.

Tonight I went to Blockbuster to rent “Kingdom of Heaven” and came home with both. (What a nice guy, huh?)

Jess was so excited that I rented it that I had to give in further and watch it tonight with my wonderful wife.

I’m almost embarrassed to write this: I was a hurting man at the end of the movie. Tears? Yes. Lump in my throat? Yes. Ready to break down and sob like a 3-year-old? Yes.

Unbelievable that a movie can bring out such emotion in me.

If you’ve seen “The Notebook” you probably know what I’m talking about. If not, you are wondering about my manhood – and I’m okay with that.

It was a great love story. It had its flaws.

It was an amazing love story. And that’s about all I can say about that without turning this Blog into something that I’d be ashamed of.

If you need help like I did to “change the subject” after the movie, read these goofs that took place.
