It’s 5:35AM!

Oh my what an early morning. I’m up, showered, and half-ready for a full day.

We “officially” finished our church-league softball season last night with an 11-8 loss to Walnut Creek Church. Apparently we lost to a team that hadn’t one a single game all season long. How’s THAT for a bad game. It was fun, though, and if we DID win, we would’ve needed to turn around and instantly play ANOTHER game that same night! Ugh.

Grandma and Grandpa did stay for the entire game on the hard bleachers! I heard my wife and my grandmother yelling for me each time I was at bat. Surprisingly they cheered “more-than-usual” when I was walked at my last at-bat…

After the game we headed to Ritter’s for icecream and I snapped a picture of their sign with a not-so-typical spelling error.

After Ritter’s we showed them our apartment for the first time and then they headed back to the church where they had their motorcoach parked.

This morning I have a hospital visit and then I will be taking my wife to breakfast at Bob Evans. It is the third-year tradition to take my wife out to breakfast on the first day of school! Dad always did this for us kids growing up, so I’m doing my best to pass on this awesome tradition!

Pictures of yesterday are here.

Reading update.

I finished “The Lion, Witch, & the Wardrobe” last night before 11PM!

That means I ran through that book in 2.5 hours yesterday! I’m on a reading frenzy. I will start “The Horse & His Boy” (book 3) tonight after our softball game(s).

Grandma and Grandpa Sheets arrived before 11AM here in Waraw today. They’re spending the night in their Motor Coach here in the church parking lot! They took Jess and I to lunch this afternoon and we’ll grab some quick supper before the softball game where they will watch me and my homerun streak! (okay maybe they’ll see me get to first base once or twice – and not with my wife!)

Bored?

Kory left yesterday afternoon – heading back home to Indianapolis. After church last night, Jess and I joined some of our young couples at church for dinner at the McDonalds play-land! What fun that was! I found out yesterday that we’re labeled as “DINKs” – Double Income No Kids. Funny, I guess.

This morning I was able to read two chapters of the SECOND book in the Chronicles of Narnia series before heading to the office. I finished the first, “Magician’s Nephew” late last night. I also took some time during lunch and read another 7-chapters, putting me past Chapter 9 in “The Lion, Witch, and Wardrobe”. I’m enjoying this installment of C.S. Lewis very much.

Had lunch with Craig today – we ate at Penguin Point until some local yocals started smoking the place up. Yuck.

Tonight – accountability group meeting. I think tonight we decide whether I’m “ready” to fly the helicopter next week! Oh dear.
