Archives For June 2005

Miss Bethany Kinney and Mr. Jeremy Freeman put together a great surprise party for Jess and me tonight.

We were told we were having dinner with the two of them, but the blindfolds were brought up to our door when they came to pick us up tonight after 6.

We were then ushered into separate cars and driven through back-roads to Bethany’s family’s house where a bunch of the core BOXers were waiting to surprise us!

It was a great night!

Pictures here.

IT’S HOT

Uhm, how will I ever survive a week’s stent WITHOUT constant air conditioning next week?

This is ridiculous!

I have a car without air conditioning – which means I sweat on my way to get lunch.

Seriously, I’m pretty sure this is the hottest it’s ever been in three years of living in Warsaw!

GVF-623

A bunch of years ago, Dad’s license plate on our family car was GVF-623.

It wasn’t until after June 23, 1990 that our family figured out what those letters and numbers could mean, but on this day every year, I am reminded that God is Very Faithful – June, 23rd. (GVF-623).

15 years ago today, my sister Stacia lost a battle with cancer and went home to be with the Lord.

15 YEARS!

That is absolutely mind-boggling to me. A LOT has happened in 15-years, but I can only imagine what 15-human years must be like in 15-eternity-years to her!

I’m looking forward to one day reuniting with my family in Heaven!

So, I had my lunch with my buddy Scott Greene – Warsaw Community’s student ministries pastor @ Pickerman’s (a girlie restaurant, but nonetheless, a good lunch)

Afterwards, I headed to Wal-Mart to get my fishing license. $14.25 later, I was a certified fisherman for this year.

I headed to the stream at about 2PM and after a couple dozen casts caught NOTHING.

I was fishing with Ben & Nate and suggested that we go somewhere else – somewhere that actually had FISH. (Nate had caught one fish, and we saw numerous others, but still – we weren’t really FISHING…)

So, we called my favorite pond-owning Bracketts and headed to their place for the afternoon.

We finished our fishing expedition just before 9PM and the final fishing tally for the day was: Nate: 27; Ben: 16; Stevan: 29.

Yes folks, I out-fished these two whipper-snappers – AND LOVED IT!

We had an absolute blast.

We will be spending many more hours on Brackett-pond this summer, and I can’t wait!

Day Off.

On Wednesdays, I am still “immature” enough to stay up as late as I possibly can. You know what I’m talking about – staying up until your eyes cross and you can’t function as a normal human being any more…

Well, on Thursdays, somehow the telephone always rings around 8:30 or 9:00 – usually the best sleep I’m getting ALL NIGHT!

Is this called “Murphy’s Law” – or is this called “YOU SHOULD BE UP ANYWAYS, YOU IMMATURE PUNK”?

I’m tired.

Eating lunch with a youth pastor buddy then I’m going to buy my fishing license and hit up a local stream with Ben this afternoon! Won’t catch anything big in this stream, but the fun of fishing will overtake the need for catching a “lunker”!
