Maybe owning a new camera will help me be a cool photographer like this.

Probably not, but at least I’ll try!

MY NEW FRIEND!

4.29.2005 — 2 Comments

Today I purchased a new friend. It’s the Olympus C-770 4-mega pixel, 10x-optical zoom digital camera. It will be in my possession sometime next week.

I can hardly wait.

10x-optical zoom?! Can you imagine those close-up shots of my nose!!

Thanks to Matt VanKirk, I now have two headlights that are MUCH better!

BEFORE.

AFTER.

After we fixed the headlights, Matt let me drive this year’s Demolition Derby car! Yepper. A Buick station wagon will meet it’s end in just a few months! It was pretty fun to drive a car that will eventually be so beat-up that it won’t be recognizable!

After I got a try driving, Matt showed me how a professional drives – and he even took it out on the road in front of the house and “burned off” a little rubber.

A fun time was had by all!

John Davis - John DavisI’m pretty sure my musical tastes have “matured” in the last hours of listening to this new John Davis album.

A modern day “Damascus Road Conversion-ite”, John Davis, formerly of the band Superdrag released this solo album after meeting Jesus in a real-way.

His website’s biography says that he was on the way to his folks’ home when he felt an overwhelming presence in his vehicle and instandly knew the “void” in his life would not be filled by the “alcoholic road” he was currently taking..

This album is a sinner-turned-Christ-follower’s heart for sure. The lyrics are over-the-top Christ-centered. The music style is unlike ANYTHING I’ve ever heard under the umbrella of Contemporary Christian Music. It reminds me of listening to some of Dad’s old 8-tracks and the “oldies” stations on long road trips as a family!

Honestly, my DAD would like this music!

www.johndavismusic.com – you can listen to tracks from the CD there!

12 great tracks accompany this disc that I actually downloaded thanks to many of you and your free iTunes Pepsi caps.

Honestly, if you have ANY time in the next few moments after reading this post, visit John’s website and listen to the tracks. Amazing stuff!

Accountability

4.26.2005 — 2 Comments

Last night’s group accountability meeting was terrific.

I haven’t talked about my Monday night ventures in a while – it’s honestly a highlight of my week EVERY week. Usually a group of 5 or 6 guys gathers at Hacienda to go over a list of accountability questions with each other. These questions spark discussion from a group of guys who would normally rather be talking about music, cars, or playing frisbee. It’s been an incredible time.

In a ministry position – I believe it’s MANDATORY for me to have accountability with someone – I believe the LACK of accountability is part of what is wrong with today’s Church and is part of the reason we’re seeing fallen ministers by the handful as of late.

I not only have an accountablity “group” that I meet with every week, but I’m proud to have a “best friend”/accountability partner in Kory Pence and even the accountability that comes with being married to my Jessica. (“my Jessica” makes me sound so poetic, huh?)

I have internet accountability through x3watch and recommend it to EVERYONE who has an internet connection!

Without my “checks and balances” on a regular basis, I’m sure it would be easier to fall to certain temptations and shortcomings. I thank God for those who are willing to ask me questions – search THIS guy and make sure that I am where I need to be!

(and playing frisbee in the cold with a group of guys after accountability group is sure fun, too!)
