Archives For March 2005
Bosses beware, all of March Madness is available LIVE on the internet this year!
That’s right! Clicky. EDIT – now they’re charging $19.95!
Had fun playing “magician” this afternoon. 1st grade eyes can expand to the size of small cantelopes! After school we spent the evening with the VanKirk’s. Dinner and “computer setup” as well as Jess learning how to play matchbox cars with Alex and a short bit of baby-watching made the evening exciting!
Tomorrow night is our NAPOLEON DYNA-NITE experience with theBOX. Should be interesting! I’ll try and have some pictures of the best look-alikes!
You know the point of “exhaustion” where you’re just plain loopy?
I’m “almost” there.
I can’t explain it, except to say that I’m “tired”. But not tired like “ready to go to bed”, but tired like “I need a blanket, a couch, a pillow, and about 50 dvds – and someone to change those dvds when their over”
I’m pretty sure Mt. Dew would take care of this problem, but that – and other – carbonated beverages are out of the question.
So, I’ll finish my PowerAde and turn into FULL-THROTTLE-YOUTH-PASTOR in an hour and pray that I don’t have a meltdown.
Tomorrow will be a busy day. I’m heading to Jess’ classroom in the afternoon to play Magician again – this time I’m bringing icecream for the kids – some sort of a reward for them being good! Then in the evening I’m playing “Computer Technician” for my buddy Matt VanKirk.
Tonight at theBOX we’re reviewing two songs: “I Don’t Wanna Be” by Gavin DeGraw and “Since You’ve Been Gone” by Kelly Clarkson. We’ll listen to the song while reading the lyrics and then have discussion on whether or not the song has “Sound Advice”. I’ve also got my own “youth pastor” statements about each song and Scripture to read regarding the “theology” of both songs.
Tonight we’re also introducing a COUNTDOWN timer to get things started. I’ll start the 3-minute timer about a minute-or-so after 7 and hope that they notice the screen counting down the time before we start. We’ll see how that goes..
Pigeon John’s latest album, “Pigeon John Sings the Blues!” came out on March 8th. I downloaded it from iTunes yesterday and haven’t stopped listening since!
This album is NOT for everyone. Especially if you think “Hip Hop” is “of the devil”.
14 tracks make this CD worth every penny of $9.99, but it wasn’t until after I already bought it from iTunes that I found out that the actual “physical” CD includes some bonus features that you just don’t get when you buy from iTunes… Sad.
Pigeon is a bit more honest with his “Spiritual Side” on this album. Track 13 is called “Draw Me” and the chorus sings, “Draw Me Closer to You, Lord”.
What is it about Rap & Hip/Hop that allows someone like Pigeon John to be extremely honest – lyrically.
It was a breath of fresh air to see this album available on iTunes AND to be seen in the same section as Eminem, The Game, 50 Cent, etc.!
So lately I’ve had a couple bad nights of weird dreams.
Last night’s dream:
Was on our way to Michael Jackson’s house to interview him and he comes out spraying propane on us. He was literally dousing my little neon with propane gas from a grill-sized propane tank!
He continued on until someone through a lighter towards him.
He lived, but my car melted to the ground.
Uhm. That’s just not normal.
