Resurrection Weekend

So last night we broke out the brand new board games that I bought Jess for Easter! Round 1 of Clue and Jess moves “Miss Scarlet” into the Library and accuses her of killing somebody with the candlestick. Of course she does this on her first roll.

She was right. First guess, first try, wins the game. I almost left the house after that.

Second round took about 30-minutes, but again my wife ruled me at Clue.

Second up – Scrabble.

I was wooping her by almost 50 points when she found a Z in the “pool” and rocked me with “zoo”. Evil game. Picture of our finished board – this will be a fun tradition – to take a picture of every Scrabble game we play and put it up here for your viewing pleasure. This time we didn’t have to BLACK OUT any words – we TRY and keep it G-rated!

Scrabble Board – Jess wins by 10

This morning we had two great morning worship services with Rev. Bill Kinnan speaking out of John’s Gospel. His message was about “Breakthroughs” and how Easter is the ultimate “breakthrough”. He mentioned that we’re each looking for breakthroughs in our lives and that Breakthroughs do the following:
01. Breakthroughs usually come in the “dark”.
02. Breakthroughs come even through dilemas.
03. Breakthroughs give us new discernment.
04. Breakthroughs cancel out doubt.

The message was great – I again intro’d this fill-in Pastor. Rev. Kinnan is a friend of our family, so it was a huge honor and pleasure. After my intro and Scripture reading for his message, he announced that he WAS, in fact a friend of the family – beginning with my Sheets grandparents. He exclaimed that they (my Sheets grandparents) have aged, while he has not.

He then gave the reason – he has better grandchildren.

OUCH.

Dave Kinnan
should be watching his back!

After services, we headed home for a quick change and then hit the road to Bluffton for Easter dinner!

It was good to connect with the Garrett clan, hide candy for the youngsters and see just how much the newest additions have grown!

Meet Hattie and Draven:

Hattie – Jess’ second-cousin

Draven – Jess’ “other” second-cousin

It was a great afternoon and before heading home for the evening, the guys (Dad Garrett, Rich Halt and me) played the girls (Mom Garrett, Jaymie Halt, and Jess) in a little Bid-Euchre.

I’ll let you all guess who won. (I’m pretty sure this will start some comments!)

Our parting-shot before heading to our homes with our wives:
