Archives For March 2005

If I were to walk into a liquor store, I would hope I would be “carded” before being able to make a purchase.

Obviously, I wouldn’t ever walk into a liquor store – unless they had a sale on lighter fluid or something! :)

I would also appreciate being “carded” if I were to attempt to purchase some-sort of firearm.

But WD-40?

Today at Wal-Mart, one of my purchases was a can of WD-40 – the spray can, with the sweet red straw attached…

As I checked out, the little computer screen facing me asked if I was born more than 18-years ago!

YOU HAVE TO BE 18 TO BUY WD-40???

I laughed out-loud when I saw that message on the screen and the lady behind the counter gave me “the look”. Thankfully, she thought I appeared to be over the required 18, and didn’t require me to say my ABC’s backwards, do multiplication, or even show my license. She just acknowledged the fact that there are those who “huff” WD-40.

“HUFF” WD-40?

You must be kidding me.

Tonight I once again re-realized just how much I love my job.

Speaking tonight for 30-minutes about the example the “woman at the well” was at being an evangelist – somehow helped me realize how much I enjoy being a youth pastor!

Even with numerous “blank stares” from Jr. Highers (usual reaction!), I just confirmed again the “call” that is upon this life.

Thanks to a link found at relevantmagazine.com, I present to you the first in a series of the most random “Jesus Junk”.

I present to you the Sterling Silver & Cubic Zirconia Phat Bling Christ Pendant, found at Overstock.com!

You know you want one.

Remember a few weeks ago, I posted a link to a news story where the band Korn’s lead guitarist accepted Christ?

Well, God is continuing to use this story and this “Jesus Freak” to spread the Gospel.

Check out Brian’s website: www.headtochrist.com – it’s amazing, and exciting, and humbling to read the ramblings of a new Christian and to sense his excitement for his new-found Spiritual freedom!

Brian even wrote a letter to rapper “50-cent” proclaiming the Gospel. He now has a downloadable song about the letter.

The wind was pretty good today. My “stunt” kite doesn’t fly… My coke can DOES fly – and especially well in heavy wind!

Note to self: must buy a “worth-while” kite for days like this…
