Your Name

2.10.2005 — 10 Comments

This link proved VERY interesting.

I found out the following:

“Stevan” ranked #822 out of the top 1,000 names given to boys in the 1950’s! The 1950’s was the only decade where “Stevan” even came up and only 22 out of 1,000,000 boys born during that decade were named “Stevan” in the 1950’s!

other names I looked up:

“Sherilyn” – doesn’t even rank! (Sherilyn’s name is more rare than MINE?!)

“Jessica” – ranked #1 out of the top 1,000 names given to girls in the 1980’s! 14,500 out of 1,000,000 girls born in the 80’s were given the name “Jessica”!

“Stacia” – (my older sister’s name) – ranked #678 out of the top 1,000 names given to girls in the 1970’s. 80 out of 1,000,000 girls were given the name “Stacia” in the 1970’s.

I’m pretty sure I could stay at that site all day long, but there is work to do!

I’ve been cleaning-house all day long (besides taking NUMEROUS breaks to watch as much hunting/fishing as one person can watch in a given day!)

theBOX was great last night. I challenged each teen to give something up for the next 40-days for Lent. It was interesting to see what some of them are willing to give up to increase their faith!

::iTUNES CAP UPDATE:: – still only have 1 cap! :(

it has started

Join the revolution: send me your cap codes and get personal stevansheets.com recognition.

Current cap count: 1 (from me during my pre-Lent Mt. Dew binge!)

Today at Target.com I found this:

A queen-sized pine headboard will be shipped to our house in 2-weeks!

It was $59 with free shipping AND on top of that, I got a 10% discount code AND we still had three Target giftcard. We won’t know exactly how much we had to pay until it ships!

Cool, huh?!

Had a great Youth Cabinet meeting this evening down in Marion. Usually it’s an all-business meeting.

Not tonight.

Tonight we actually had time to chat together about how our lives and ministries are going. I appreciate those guys on that board SO much!

Lent

2.8.2005 — 3 Comments

In observance of Lent, starting tomorrow Stevan Sheets will be fasting from all carbonated beverages until Good Friday.

There, I made a public statement – hold me accountable!

(and still send me your PEPSI cap codes for iTunes!)

Magic

2.7.2005 — Leave a comment

This morning from 8 until a little after 11, I was going through 4 huge storage trunks full of magic tricks. These four trunks were owned by Brother Bill Larned – a man that attended Warsaw Wesleyan Church and a man that I had the joy of getting to know in my first two years here at WWC until he passed away.

Mr. Larned was a minister in the Salvation Army and part of his ministry was Gospel Magic.

While he was still living, we would talk about his “magic days” and he would tell me how he wanted to go through his magic again and give me whatever I would find use for. I never got that chance while he was living.

His daughter, Judy and her husband Paul still attend our church and today Paul and I went through those four trunks. It was amazing.

I saw tricks today that I’ve never seen in my life. I also saw tricks that I had seen dozens of times. I was able to salvage an entire trunk-full of magic that I will now add to MY collection of tricks!

What an amazing gift!

Today here at church the wallpaper has started going up! The foyer looks absolutely amazing with the new wallpaper and the oak. I can’t wait to see it completely finished!

Bible study tonight at Helfrich’s. Looking forward to that.

Blood donation tomorrow. Hurray for me!
