Wes and Brandon

1.20.2005 — 1 Comment

Wes and Brandon arrived safely in Warsaw at approximately 11:15AM.

Before they arrived, I had done some “around town” business (check deposit, etc) and stopped in at the local “Blossers Camera” store where I got some tips on using my “new-to-me” 33mm camera. I actually had fun working with a manual camera instead of a digital camera, however for web-purposes, I did have Jess take two digital shots of “me and the boys”!

The snow is still coming down here in Warsaw, folks – pretty heavy right now! It’s beautiful! It snowed practically all-day-long today, which is enjoyable to me for sure! I told Jess last night that we really need to own a house so that I can be a better “home-owner” when it comes to clearing the walk and driveways.

I do all that I can here at the apartment, but all we have is a short walk up to the door and two spots for our cars. I want and need more!

A Phone Call

1.19.2005 — 3 Comments

After a long day at work today, it was nice to settle in with my wife to watch our new DVD – Hillsong & Delirious – live in Sydney, Australia.

We were enjoying our Taco Bell and the live music when the phone rang.

On the other end was my old buddy Jon McGough – a childhood friend from my growing-up years in Rochester, New York.

He was pleased to announce his engagement and that he had asked my father to do the wedding! Wow!

So folks, my wife and I are now working on plans to attend a California wedding on the weekend of May 29th!

Wow.

Today was a great day. Tomorrow holds quite an adventure.

Another phone call earlier this evening from my brother, Wesley Pate announced a visit from two of the brotherhood tomorrow. Yes, folks – Wes and Brandon Schenck will be making the trek from Berne to Warsaw for some good times.

Only time will tell what the three of us find to do in the hours that are Thursday, January 20th. I admit a child-like anticipation builds within my soul as I await the hour that those two arrive on my doorstep, bb-guns being unloaded on my still waking-up body.

Will we ever grow up?

My Neon

1.18.2005 — 1 Comment

My Neon made a noise today that it had made a few times before, but this time the noise continued to be made.

In general, “noises” from my Neon aren’t scary, but for some reason this one had me worried.

Instead of pulling into the church parking lot this morning, I made a right-turn and headed to North Lake Auto.

6-hours and $107 later, my Neon no longer makes the evil noise.

Thank you “Mark and Company” for replacing two of my belts and making the noise go away.

Now if I could just get my rear speakers to work again…

13-degrees was today’s “high”.

That’s pretty stinkin’ cold.

We have a road closed close to our house because of the flooding and now – freezing. It’s pretty cool to go around that “road closed” sign and go across that sheet of ice that now covers the road.

Who would do such a thing?

Bring on the “be careful” comments.

Had a great LDJ meeting this morning (a once-a-month meeting with other Wesleyan pastors from around Northern Indiana).

A lot going on tomorrow. Better get my beauty rest.

Oh, and by the way – I NEVER thought that Peyton Manning was a “god” or anything like that – I have ALWAYS been fans of teams that are atleast associated with the state that I either live in or have lived in.

For example:

I’ll always root for the Buffalo Bills (whether or not they lose 4 Super Bowls in a row!) I will continue to root for the Baltimore Orioles (loved Eddie Murray!) I will always root for the Carolina Panthers (I watched them be born!) I will always love the Atlanta Braves (dad and I LOVED singing the “tomahawk chop” song at Braves games) And I will always be a fan of the Indianapolis Colts – I’ve lived in this flat state for 8-years!

Wow.

8-years?

1997-2005 = 8 years.

That’s weird.

It is a quiet evening here in Colt-land.

Stevansheets.com is saddened and takes this time for silence in remembrance of what “could” have been.
