Archives For December 2004

Okay, so it wasn’t #923, but it sure feels like it! Tis the season to attend every Christmas party we’re invited to!

Tonight was the Sunday School class that has been “taking care of us” for the last 6 months. We had a great meal, some great fellowship, and even a “white elephant” gift exchange. We ended up with a Pro-Bass-Fishing Book and a Ladder Carrying Kit for a car!

Interesting.

Jess is going to a Ladies Tea tomorrow morning (in fact she’ll be up half the night making “scones” for it!) and then she’s off to Ft. Wayne.

I, on the other hand, get to sleep in tomorrow morning and then spend a good part of the day with my bud Craig.

Today I picked Jess’ Buick back up from the guys at North Lake Auto. All is well with the Buick Regal now.

Last night I got to enjoy one of Indiana’s favorite things: elementary school basketball.

Last night it was the Harrison Huskies vs. Madison Cardinals. Final score: 28-27 Huskies win.

As a Pastor I get the privilege of getting to know many of the people that come to Warsaw Wesleyan – and one of those such people is my buddy Craig. He’s the coach of those crazy Harrison Huskies. It’s a privilege to call Craig my friend.

Last night I snapped about 50 pictures of the game. Here are some of the highlights:

Those were “Coach Helfrich” at his finest.

Today I had the privilege of visiting another Warsaw Wesleyan at his place of work – my buddy Ron Cook over at Da-Lite Screens hooked me up with a sweet deal on a new screen for the church. I went over and picked it up and he handed me a pair of safety glasses and gave me the tour of his work-area! Wow. Who would’ve thought that rolls of steel could turn into screen frames, tripod legs, and numerous other secretive things! Wow.

What a morning!

This morning Jess called from the side of the road with car trouble.

I jumped in some clothes, jumped in my car and picked her up a little over a mile away from the house. I took her to school, drove back to where her car was and started it up with a little trouble and then took it back to our place.

I then “bundled up” and got walking. I got back to my car about 15 minutes later and drove it back.

A couple of calls and a hood-lift later, it was being towed to my friends at North Lake Auto.

Haven’t heard what the “damage” is yet, but from what I saw – the serpentine belt is going to need to be replaced and probably the tension-pulley.

In other news, my pupils are filling up almost my entire eyeball right now!

I had my eye exam today and had my pupils dialated. In about a week I’ll have my new glasses and trial pairs of contacts! That’s right – contacts!

I also learned today from the eye doctor that I have some sort of “pigment disease” in my left eye. I forget exactly what he called it. He says it’s normal and that there’s nothing to worry about – that my eyes are healthy, they just have this “thing” wrong with them!

Great.

Tonight was tough.

The atmosphere was just weird tonight. Numbers were down, and minds were elsewhere.

I tried to pull it all together and I read the Luke 2 Christmas story to the teens.

I also showed a really great video clip that I got for free over at SermonSpice.com

Check it out.

Today I got really upset with Blogger.
For the last 12-hours their “router” was down and I couldn’t update stevansheets.com

So I did some investigating during my lunch “break”.

Penguin Point sandwich in hand, I surfed and found this – “WordPress“. It’s kinda like installing blogger.com on my own server and using it!

Welcome to the new stevansheets.com (for the second time this week!)

Everything isn’t functional yet, and I’m still trying to figure this all out, so hold on for the ride.
