Um. How cool is this?!

Thanks to “Ann” at the Naperville Library, I was able to get some scans of the article that she e-mailed to me and I put together into legible pages! Click each page to view the print-article as it was printed in the paper today! PAGE 01 | PAGE 02 | PAGE 03

Jess and I were able to go on a double-date with Eric and Jennifer Parsons on Saturday to see the newly-released-in-theaters “Fireproof” starring Kirk Cameron and directed by Alex Kendrick – the guy behind “Facing the Giants” and “Flywheel” (still haven’t seen that one). He’s on staff at Sherwood Baptist Church – the church behind these three movies.

I walked into the theater not expecting much. I was impressed with Kendrick’s “Facing the Giants”, though it oozed “perfect Christian plot”. I was expecting much of the same but willed to watch “Fireproof” to support it on its opening weekend.

The first 15-minutes or so of the film were exactly what I expected: b-listed actors doing their best to act as distraught marriage partners.

I got over my “perfect movie expectations” and willed myself to enjoy the movie for what it was.

Then my emotions took over.

The movie had a plot that wasn’t “standard” and actually caught me off-guard in places. The Gospel of Jesus Christ was presented in simple real-life way and I even managed to get over the b-list acting to enjoy the movie entirely and joined the crowd in our darkened theater to clapped in applause as the final credits rolled.

I definitely recommend “Fireproof” to any married couple and to any person who plans on being married!

The movie makes a clear statement that Jesus, at the center of a relationship, is the unifying entity that makes weathering life’s storms possible.

New Creation

Fellowship Church takes “Arts in Worship” to a new extreme with this live singing of “New Creation” at one of their worship services. My friend Rita Zerbe is going to love this one!

I don’t get it.

President Bush – your declaration tonight that by giving 700-billion dollars of taxpayer money away you are NOT bailing out any “specific” company or industry was a bit bogus don’t you think?

Thanks for wasting more of OUR hard-earned money making sure rich people stay rich and making sure they don’t learn the lessons I had to learn playing Monopoly as a kid.

Disappointed and sad, too…

PS – My friend Mike Huckabee had some great words regarding this absolutely ridiculous situation you’re putting America in. I DARE you to listen to some of his suggestions!

So this morning I headed to the Elegant Farmer for a Food Network taping of what we were told would be called “Holiday Harvest” – highlighting “America’s Best Apple Pie” – the Apple Pie baked in a paper bag that Elegant Farmer is famous for.

I arrived, signed my release-waiver and was ushered indoors for the first segment filming – we were asked to taste the pie, walk around the store acting “normal”, and be willing to give on-screen comments about how we liked the pie. I didn’t get interviewed for this part, but there’s a chance I’m on film acting “normal”.

After a short while we were lead by hay-wagon to the top of the Elegant Farmer orchard where a tent was set up with somewhat of a staging-area-set built for the purpose of watching Farmer Dan and Farmer John make their world-famous Apple Pie. We were privy to the production of such a segment and while they were taping the making of the pie we were all suddenly caught off-guard by THE Bobby Flay walking onto the set disturbing the two Farmers as they described the process. Who knew we would be a part of a Throwdown with Bobby Flay episode?!

I was absolutely floored that Bobby Flay was right there in front of us here in Mukwonago, Wisconsin – talking to my buddy Farmer Dan about his famous pie!

Of COURSE I took pictures.
