Archives For December 2006

We’re here in PA safe and sound. We actually arrived at Mom & Dad’s by 10:30 Sunday night – a mere 10-hours after we left Warsaw!

600 miles in 10-hours with two 1-hour stops along the way. (you do the math)

Warsaw Wesleyan’s Christmas Eve morning worship service was a blast! I sang in a quartet again and we had a packed house with ushers bringing in extra chairs during the first part of the service! I wish we could’ve been present for the evening family Christmas service, but we were on the road to PA. Pictures from Sunday AMs service are here.

We’re currently sitting in the D.C. Coffee & Tea company here in Mifflinburg after enjoying lunch out at the Carriage Corner. We’ll head back to Mom and Dad’s shortly and enjoy church with them tonight.

Yesterday morning we enjoyed Aunt Bonnie and Uncle Abe’s visit to Mom & Dad’s. Last evening we headed to Dad’s vice-chairman’s home for dinner and some 4-wheel riding (you should’ve seen my muddy clothes.)

We’re hoping to be on the road Saturday morning and will be back in Warsaw for evening service on December 31st.

We don’t have any snow on the ground here, but we’ve been able to watch it come down from the sky a few times already!

Tomorrow we’re hoping to head up Jack’s mountain – this time my Dad and my sister are planning on making the trek.

We’re leaving after morning worship service tomorrow, so we won’t have the opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas on either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day probably, so we’re sharing this video with you instead:

jb.jpgSo Jess and I are hooked to a new series, ‘One Punk Under God’ featuring Jay Bakker, son of Jim & Tammy Faye.

It’s a documentary on the Sundance Channel about his church, “The Revolution” in Atlanta.

Well we don’t get the Sundance Channel, so we’re watching it through iTunes and we’re definitely hooked. Jay definitely has a VERY liberal look at the church which is somewhat expected from knowing about his childhood.

There is one thing, however, that I’m having a very difficult time with. In the second episode (there are only two available so far), Jay makes a public statement about the gay lifestyle NOT being sinful. He literally says that there is nothing wrong with being a homosexual and that those of us that believe there is are basing it strictly on false traditions of the church.

We’ll definitely continue to watch the season and see how Jay’s opinion plays out in the life of his church.

Anyone else watching this series?

I love my girls!

I’m just blown away at the amount of spam comments stevansheets.com gets everyday. Thankfully I have “akismet” installed and it deletes the spam comments before they’re posted.

I just read this statement:

Akismet has caught 18,899 spam for you since you first installed it.

Nearly 19,000 spam comments since I installed akismet. Unbelievable.
