A ‘Nu Thang’ | what could have been

5.4.2011 — 10 Comments

UPDATE: Thanks to my cousin Brock for pointing me to more of the story of Michael Clancy (who now happens to be a 29-year-old lawyer in Phoenix). Story here.

Please watch (and enjoy):

I’m not going to lie. I could still probably sing every single DC Talk lyric ever written. When I stumbled upon this video today I had two quick thoughts that I felt the need to share on my blog:
1. I am so glad I had the privilege of growing up listening to DC Talk.
2. I am so glad that there is no video-proof of me ‘performing’ this exact same song in the privacy of my bedroom (complete with ‘dance’ moves) every single day of my life in 6th and 7th grade.

That is all.

PS – if you did not grow up listening to “Christian Music” in the 90’s this video (and this post) will mean absolutely nothing to you and I apologize. Also, did you know you can still get DC Talk albums on Amazon?!

  1. HA HA, did you have those pants too… I’ll bet you did, everyone did !

stop the video at 1:22 then look to the right at your picture !

    Miss you guys !
    Bev

  2. Oh my goodness, Stevan!!!!!

  3. That’s hilarious! I’m more than thrilled my dance moves were never recorded growing up! I especially love that the entire outfit is purple! Oh and the lady’s dress brings back some memories of growing up with church ladies wearing those kind of dresses. :-)

  4. Thanks for reminding us that supportive parenting is overrated. A simple “your not going out dressed like that” could have prevented this.
