Palm Pre: Google Apps E-mail Support

10.2.2009 — 1 Comment

I’ve been using my Pre for almost a week now and have been ONLY sending e-mail from my “standard” gmail account –

This has been fine, except for when I’m trying to send out a mass-email to the church, when some people get an e-mail from “navets{at}gmail.com” or “stevan{at}stevansheets.com” they don’t know who in the world that is. (It’s me, by the way).

So today I did a little digging and found a great tutorial on adding my other Google Apps accounts to my Pre’s e-mail app. Works like a charm: http://flipthe.org/how-to-set-up-push-email-for-google-apps-and-gmail-on-palm-pre/

Now, I can send an e-mail as stevan{at}armbrustwesleyan.com so that people don’t get confused with who is sending them an updated prayer request as I’m walking out of a hospital visit!

  1. I’ve had my Pre due to the fact shortly after release and am glad to find (by way of this forum) that I can now set a ring tone on incoming text messages and can lookup via e-mails and this kind of. Now is there any hope for an upcoming launch in which I can research my calendar? Would make my work a great deal less difficult, obtaining dates of final appointments. No other complaints, except that yesterday I had been in and out of Sprint provider (not unusual). I feel I had been roaming, and looked at my calendar. Every thing in the calendar was one particular hour earlier than what I had input. The clock was one hour early as properly. I was frightened to death–then, after we got back into Sprint service once more, everything was normalized. Has this happened to anyone else?? Seeking forward to answers, but please don’t forget, I’m no techie and speak English rather than technospeak.
